GTA 5 PC costs the same as PS4, Xbox One version

Best series ever is a very, and I mean very very bold statement:rolleyes:. I'm curious (genuinely so) as to why you'd consider it the best series ever...

Stop antagonizing, you grumpy old fart :p

No game series comes close to the amount of fun you can have in a GTA game. You can basically do whatever you want, whenever you want. There is amazing attention to detail in the worlds the vehicles are fun to drive, and it fun to just beat up random people on the street and watch their reactions to what's going on. Hell, the radio stations alone make them better than any COD game.

Call of Duty is not a bad series (upto MW3, that is). GTA is arguably better.

I'll be picking up GTA V for PC for sure, but probably during a Steam sale :)

KoA is brilliant - and anyone who says otherwise is a filthy liar.

"whistling:

I haven't played much of it yet, I'm not a big fan so far though. It feels a bit too much like a bad console port.

Anyway I think this is going a bit off topic. :D

Mygaming? Off Topic? Doesn't sound like us.....

I'll get us back on track regardless:

GTA is overrated.

I doubt that a standard version of GTA V on PC will cost the same as a standard version of the console version (well the PS4/XBONE versions).

Right now GTA V still costs quite a bit on PS3 (R729 via takealot or R699 via Kalahari) which is still cheaper than something like Infamous: Second Son (R790 at Takealot and R759 at Kalahari) however that's still more expensive than the $59.99 (+/- R640 per the article) expense at Steam (which is usually more expensive than our local retailers for physical copies of the same game when it comes to PC titles). I very much doubt the PS4/XBONE versions will release at anything less than R700...so let's see what they actually announce (especially in terms of special editions and collector editions).

I'd pay R800-R1000 for a whopper PC version but not R800 for a standard console version...but perhaps I'm jaded because I'm buying it for a second time on my platform of choice.

The Sims wipes the floor with GTA. You can drive cars, beat up other sims, build houses, plenty of sex and bad language and lastly it also has dogs. :p

Well then... makes me glad I own a PC and a console. /s Honestly I am expecting a R799 price on PS4 but I will take R699 any day.

I expected this to happen at some point. PC games are going into the $60 Range on steam and I don't see it stopping with the horrendous exchange rates we get. Our games come from EU/UK and not the USA blame Megarom/SKE/APEX and who ever else that is a major importer of software.

On the other hand, making the game the same price on all platforms is some what a good idea makes it a little cheaper across the board yet PC has to suffer the most - welcome to our world those of you who never owned a console.

Haven't Rockstar PC versions always been more expensive? I recall Max Payne 3 launching at 499 when PC games where still at 399.
Of course this was round about when the "premium" game was fabricated out of thin air thanks to CoD and BF primarily.
Also the difference with the console versions is that you can at least trade in - imagine paying R700 for a PC game and if it's broken or shit, you're stuck with it. And I'm also a PC/Console gamer (mudblood as I'm called by friends) so I know the feels.
I just feel the price of games is going off the charts simply because it can - people bitching about BF4 (or rather EA) are already frothing at the mouth for Hardline after all.

I agree with your point of view (I should not, since I have and exam at 8AM tomorrow and this is keeping me from my studies... but what the hell, foundations in English can't be so hard!) I remember paying R249 for Half-Life 2 and thinking it was a small fortune, I had worked my R7 an hour casual job for months to save up for it. Now looking a game prices of R599 I look back and think damn R249 was a good price of a good game. Fast Forward to 2014 and R599 is not a bad price for a good game, sadly this is not the case we get served a sack of shit as game and pay full price for it. Then the dev moves onto something else - here is looking at you DICE/Ubisoft. Note how I bold good because it is so hard to come across a good game these days (Specifically speaking about PC)0 back then Dev's kept their promises and delivered or simply went home. Now I am somewhat torn - Buy Tomb Raider at R99 and keep it forever, or buy it for the PS4 (pre-played) at R549, trade it in at R300 and get a another PS4 game (pre-played) R149? I take the latter option - until steam has a trade in system to give me some money back on my steam games.

I digress!

I can't predict the future but from it's success on XB360/PS3 GTA V has to be a good game worth paying for, on console.

Back to the debate at hand, yes prices are getting ridiculous but sadly that is how an economy works. This is despite a actual working model economy which works on high stock movement and lower prices equates to more sales over time, which in turn generates more of a profit in the end. (please correct me if I am wrong - My Degree is in English Language and Geography, I am far from an expert). I now simply refuse to buy new release PC games, they cost too much and I can get them much cheaper later on, an good example is Bioshock Infinite. I wanted it so badly but would not pay R500 for it, I waited till december and picked it up for $10/15? I only finished it about a week ago despite having it for so long. Yes I would have paid full price but I am glad I waited instead.

Also we have to note that A) R* spent massive amounts of money on the game (despite making it all back in PS3/XB360) and B) Take2 is publishing it so they should get the flack of "Why is it priced so highly?"

Other than that, I can't really add more. I just think Take2 saw how well it did and pushed the price along knowing millions will buy it... Or the current pricing is a placeholder and should not panic until local pricing is released.

Okay! Back to morphemes and denotative language use!~

TL;DR. PC games cost a lot - I don't know why - I have to study - Murph makes a good argument!

*My keyboard backlighting died, so I am typing from my memory excuse the mistakes if there are any*
