GTX 1080 Pricing and Comparisions

Flex

Will lift for boobs!
Yes yes yes. Some people are probably sick of the word GTX, Pascal and the numbers 1080 and 1080.
But I believe these new cards deserve all the attention they are getting.

They are more powerful, more power efficient and priced better than the GTX 980ti and Titan X.

HERE is a nice site where you can see the comparisons between the GTX 1080, 980ti and 980.

Then regarding the pricing. Pricing has already been released in Australia and they are super competitive at US$599.
You can read more about the pricing HERE.

The 1070 GTX is supposed to beat out the titian X at a fraction of the cost, in fact it looks like it will come in at the cost of the 970.
Why can't I pre-order this yet?!

Because South Africa, you'll likely find that we'll get it in Q3 2016 and it will likely be priced at current 980 prices because of exchange rates and other crap we have to deal with

Sign up on Nvidias Site. They will let you know when it is officially available.
I would however wait for companies to make their own coolers and clocking like MSI and the rest to release their pricing and details.
Not sure exactly how long that will still be. but should be relatively soon

Very true! There are still lots of unknowns. So I guess we will have to wait and see

I already did this. Signed up that is now to hurry up and wait. I was looking at the 980 and 970 to upgrade to so now the 10 series is out I am going to wait it out. Will dream of how good BF1 is going to look on it. :D

Yeah, rather wait and be patient

I'm sitting the 10xx series out as I recently bought a 980 which i'm quite happy with.
yea if I had a 980ti I would also not see the point. 970 or 980 though, not so sure.

Toms Hardware have a nice hierarchy chart and recommend only upgrading if you 2 or more generations behind, The 980 is still going to be a good card for a few years and now and may drop in price.

I have the 770 GTX and really want to get a Vive and although steam says my card is VR capable they recommend the 970 as minimum so the 10 actually make me feel like dropping a ton of cash and I will have a good few years worth of premium gaming.

Now if oly 4k G-sync monitors would only just become ultra cheap.

Th 980 is a waste of money imo. Can't justify the price jump between my 970 HOF and the 980 at all. 980ti is a different story all together.
But why would you want a 9 series gpu if you are upgrading from the 7 series when the 10 series pricing will be super competitive at the looks of it

This was before the 10 series was announced. So yeah I'll be skipping the 9 series generation.

Gigabyte, PNY and Gainward has started listing their "Founders Edition" of the GTX1080 on their sites.

*edit*
Looks like Galax has started with customer cards: http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/custom_cooled_gtx_1080_spotted/1

Which is an interesting design, as it looks just like the stock/reference/founders card. Perhaps it to keep the costs down.

AWESOME

Thank you very much for that

The 1080 will retail at around R14,000.

Sounds about what I expected :-)

To think I bought a 960 about a year ago for around R2k.

I hope AMD has a competitor to the 1070 with Polaris, at a cheaper price. Hopefully we'll see at Computex. I've got a FreeSync monitor now as well, so I'm thinking of jumping ship to the Red team, seeing as Nvidia has no desire to support the open standard.

Interested to see 1060/50 prices and performance. Polaris may also be the savior that the mid-range market is looking for.
