GTX 480 and Crysis on "very high" settings 60-78 fps!!

Hi guys

Installed Crysis again last night and did a first time run with my gtx 480.All settings on "very high" no AA and no AF @1920 x 1080.Wow I was impressed,played the first 2 levels and frame rated never went below 60 and I got 78 - 82 fps max in some areas.It plays as smooth as butter and is actually a real treat to play when running like this!!!

I'd be pretty interested to know what kind of FPS you get in the final ingame cut-scene, mass particle cluster, that's really where my 5970 was taking some hectic strain.

if you look down the you should get smooth framerate.

Rofl, thats what I do sometimes, smooth out the frame rates when they go bonkers. I am not surprised you get frame rates like that. The more you pay in terms of kit the more you will get out of it.
 
Weird even with kit 5 times greater then what was around in 2007 Crysis still struggles. Sigh bad coding in my books.
 
Thats for damn sure,been playing the past week and from time to time you just have to to stop and admire the bloody amazing graphics!!!
 
I don't know it seems to lose it around the level with the Aliens. It does look good I will admit, but I still say it is bad coding.

Dude, GTA IV is bad coding. At least with Crysis you get a decent pay-off the the sometimes poor performance and remember it runs like crap if you choose to play it on high and see all the fancy effects, though my 8800GT hardly had a problem keeping a stable framerate with those settings. Need to test this out on my 5770 still.
 
Crysis has nearly perfectly linear scaling. It was actually VERY well coded. I remember playing it with acceptable framerates on an e2160 with a 7300GT! Of course that was on minimum settings on a 17" lcd but still.. It was designed as a future benchmark, and it succeeded at that. If you had been able to max it at the time, it wouldn't still appear on EVERY hardware chart. If you want to see a similar recent example of benchmark games check out Metro 2033's scaling. You need 2 480's to get 60fps with everything maxed out.
