Guild Wars 2

Yea I had a support ticket with them about emails and stuff before the first BWE.

I've got it a bit worse though, played GW way back and then stopped playing for 2-3 years. When I logged back in my account was cleaned out entirely and was too long back for them to do checks on or something.

Long story short, when I played Aion I created NCSoft master account which used a different email.
So now I've got 2 Master Accounts (GW/Aion) which can't be merged apparently. :/
"Once a game account has been created, we are unable to transfer the account from one NCsoft master account to another."

They did however state that you will have the ability to link your GW account to your GW2 account at a later stage if you haven't done it on registration.

Last night sparked some more interest in me, played elementalist(same as my original GW char) and it was fun. Kinda disliking the ability changes on weapon as some stuff is awesome but I wan't to wield a staff while using them. :/

Oh well it's gunna rock anyway. :)

So I had a look at all the dungeon armours last night and I have to say I found most of them fairly underwhelming. I especially didn't like the Ascalonian Catacombs light armour, it just looks terrible, even the starter light armour looks better.

I did see a few that I really liked though so for ones like the butt ugly AC light armour I will probably only go for them to get the stats and transmute it over to another better looking one.

I also played around with the Asura character creation last night and settled on the look I'm going to be going for at launch.

I didn't do much else though, saving it all for the 25th. :D

At this time, it is not possible to change your Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 account name or email address. We will have this ability before Guild Wars 2 launches.

So you will be able to change your e-mail address before launch. Answer is in the Answer o.O. But no it has not happened yet, still a few weeks to go, will probably happen that week before the 28th.

Ye what I failed to mention was that question with the answer in it was given to me just after the first BWE (it was somewhere around then).
So having the launch just over 3 weeks away (pre-purchased) was wondering if there was an update and I might have missed it.

Nah sorry. No update. No real world on a lot of the mechanics and account info. We are all waiting to see.

For the last time, THIS IS NOT F******* WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol @ "best MMO out there." That relies heavily upon how you define "best." If most popular and most successful, then yes. If the most immersive and story-driven then... laaaaaaaaawl.

Yeah I just ignore those arguments now, gotten to a point where I tune out all of the arguments and comparisons to WoW or wtfever.

Was anyone else experiencing some hectic graphical lag last night? In BWE3 I had very very little to no lag, even in huge WvWvW battles, but last night the minute I switched the graphics to high I got some insane frame rate drops. It seemed to improve a little as I played but still...it was quite worrying.

I had graphics glitches.. The floor and mobs disappearing, hectic pop-up, and generally models flickering on and off. In GenChat it sounded like others had the same issues :/ Maybe that's why another stress test is already planned.

Well the performance isn't where it should be yet. It definitely seemed to be improved, but my fps would take a dive from 60 down to 34 depending on where I was looking.

The game is still overly dependant on the CPU atm (at least in my case), I had a look and my CPU usage (Phenom II x4 965) was sitting at 70% usage while my GPU (Radeon 7850) was twiddling it's thumbs at no more than 52% usage.

Clearly a lot of the rendering still needs to be offloaded onto the GPU from the CPU, even changing my settings from Highest to Lowest resulted in zero increased fps which clearly indicates it's still very CPU bottlenecked on my setup.

What are the rest of you experiencing as far as performance?

Yeah I had those as well! The grass and other plants were flickering in WvWvW and for some reason when zoning into WvWvW and walking down the steps, it was almost like I was rubber-banding forward. It's weird...it seems so much buggier than the last beta.

I had improvement upon switching the graphics lower, but I mean going from running everything on Ultra in BWE3 to having to run it on medium for respectable framerates is a bit weird!

I had similar issues ... the one NPC I was fighting with was doing some mad headspins on the floor while fighting :D

But performance-wise, I can't say that I had any problems, although I've got my settings fairly low because I'm doing this on my lappy. My PC is 2,100kms away from me atm :(

Btw ... another stress test tonight - this one starting at 1AM our time - if I have my math done properly.

Yeah 1am is correct, I'm not going to bother. :p

Downloaded the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles driver, which seems to have done wonders for Guild Wars 1 (where I'd get FPS drops in towns with a lot of people), so here's to hoping I can test GW2 at 1AM tonight and have a performance boost :D

Despite swearing off beta totally, I jumped into the stress test to see how my aged system would handle it and was surprised to see that GW2 is running DX9, must say I am happy, my little GPU has issues with DX11 features, can run them but at an patience melting 5fps etc.

Ran nicely, everything turned max, granted I ran around the Asura starting area for a short bit, but was chugging along nicely at 20-30fps, which is fine for me, the human eye cant see better thean 25fps anyways.

While that's true it doesn't stop one from percieving the higher fps. The difference between playing a game at 30fps and at 60fps is like night and day and is very clearly visible, it also affects how the game feels (smoothness).

Last night while testing - my fps would drop from 60 to 30 when swinging the camera to a more graphically intense area and the effect it has on the game is extremely noticeable.

The argument of the human eye only seeing 25fps has no real merit when it comes to fps in games. Granted you're fine with your current fps, but trust me, when GW2 is running at 50+ fps the game and especially the combat feels so much better.

I'd say 60fps (maybe higher since I remember when playing UT2004 years ago I could "feel" the difference between 60 and 80fps on a CRT monitor that could do 85Hz) is the cap it which we stop perceiving a difference in fps in games.

Edit: To anyone getting headaches after playing the game for a long stretch, I found that in my case it was the FXAA. All the FXAA does is blur the entire image in order to hide the jagged edges, so it makes the game actually look worse too.
