It has been a year. Or more.
If they don't exist, I'll solo for a while and then see if it's worth joining a guild again.

So, I picked up the game again yesterday, for a few hours. I have no idea what I was doing with this character, where I am in the story, what I needed to do, where I need to go, or anything. May have to start a new character
Also, my guild is totally dead
Seems like a *ton* of stuff has been added to the game since I last played - felt a bit more balanced, in the short time I played. Will roll another character at some stage this week and see what's what

Play the old character - you will probably picking it up as you go again. Roll a new character by all means. Just heavy going leveling a character from scratch. Busy leveling an Asura Warrior for my Son ...

Stick with the old character, read up on her/his skills and weapons.
There are a bunch of new currencies, all of which are easy to learn.
You get tokens for completing dungeons, then you can use them to buy equipment from vendors in Lions Arch.
They also added a currency called Laurels, mostly get them from WvW and daily/monthly targets. They are hard and few to get, but the equipment that you can buy with them are a cut above the rest.
Their also a new level of gear called Ascended, basically it goes beyond Exotic gear and can be dropped by monsters (very rare) or forged via your profession (weaponsmith, leatherworker, armorsmith, huntsman, jeweler etc)
They've also increased the level that most professions can go to level 500. Ascended gear can only be crafted at level 500.
There's a wide range of new bosses and events, most are now permanent additions.
A new arena/area was also added called Fractals of the Mist. Its a HIGH level area that you need all Ascended gear for, but the rewards are incredible.

Hasn't all those additions you mentioned been part of the game for the past 6 months already? I haven't been able to play since October, due to us moving and waiting for our new house to be built. So I'll be able to get back in around May this year.

Ironically I tried a couple of weeks ago and I played for about 40mins, logged off and havent been back. I just cant get into it.

I used to play a warlock in the PH wow guild, nick on the forums was Reavs as well.
Anyways, i felt like that the first time i played on release. There seems to be more going on now. More things to work towards.
