Guild Wars 2

did 2x eu, 2x usa and 1 s.a account, we all know , mmo's tend to forget about south africa :P

my p4 3.2ghz , 1gb ram, onboard g31 passes the test :P

Not going to help if you done it on the same PC with diffrent locations in the TEST :P it will still pick up your South Africa IP

ya think they should also.

More BETA testers = More BUG reporting and STRESS testing the servers :) And less complaints when GW2 Launch, don't know why they keep BETA always limited on players i would personally push the limit and stress test the server to the max for launch day success.

Launch day comes and shit hits the fan because they only tested the servers with minimum players during BETA.

meh, Keep tweeting them! :P

I already offered them my soul. They have no use for it apparently.

I know it's a bit grubby, but I'm offended :p

They should just give everyone BETA access who was signing up in that 48Hours.

They're starting smallish and expanding the tests as they go. I know one of their main goals is optimisation since some of the press made mention of lag. And it will be particularly important when it comes to the WvW, since there are going to be hundreds of players on the map.

Also, giving everybody access (keeping in mind that their FB page alone has almost 300k fans) just means that things will fall over during the first test, and they'll lose time trying to fix it - it'll be a glorified repeat of what happened during TERA's first sneak-peak event. Best to build things up slowly and adjust on the fly.

True, Lets just hope we won't have big latency problems when coming with WvW :P

I still say we can ask them for a server or two down here, the worst they can do is say no, on the other hand, if they approve... WIN!

It will turn out like wow most probably and say we don't have the playerbase for it.

Or if we all make Twitter accounts and spam tweet @GuildWars2 :)

Shadowfox can be the first!

How many forums are there in South Africa?

How many are gaming related or have a section related to gaming?

How many of them have a Guild Wars 2 thread in them?

Let's gauge see how many there are and find out from those areas how many wish to play Guild Wars, then we can tally a number and include people you know who will be playing the game and then we see a grand total of how many people there might be and we can use that and ask them to sign the petition.

If it we don't get a server so be it, at least we tried!

Well i just Tweeted them, so if we can spam all local forums to do the same we can get their attention?

I will start a petition on change.org, once it is done I will post the link here, so support it please and let's see how big a Guild Wars 2 base we actually have here in SA. I will target some forums and Facebook. We should also target clans and their private forums and I will share with my contacts on steam and origin and battlelog.

A lot of my friends are already excited for this game since I have been recruiting and converting people for this game for a while now.

Can work, but if we can get everyone and tweet @GuildWars2 and ask for South African servers we can see what happens?

I mean the game will have no subscription so even more locals will be interested playing it.

"We started accepting beta sign-ups earlier today at https://beta.guildwars2.com/ Sign-ups close at 10:00 a.m. PST Friday."

I have a feeling they might send some invitations out by the weekend? Because closing it on a Friday Morning.. then perhaps prepare for mass inviting people during the day for BETA weekend perhaps?

Guys - I hate to be a wet blanket here - but no matter how many players we rally down here, it's not going to generate enough revenue for NC/ArenaNet to shell out the money to put a branch down 7,000 miles from their nearest representation.

It's not as simple as plopping down a bunch of servers and leaving them to their own devices, after all. They need support, they need infrastructure, they need staffing - and the entire hierarchy as it is now would probably need to be changed to accommodate it. So - massive costs involved.

The number of players down here is just too small a figure of the overall percentage to justify it. I'd be surprised if SA even managed 4 - 5% of the entire player-base, and I think I'm being optimistic there. Putting servers down in a country with a less than 2% Broadband penetration ratio just doesn't make any sense at all from a business perspective. They'd go the Australia/New Zealand route first, if anything.
