Guild Wars 2

I've finally installed the game, and I played a little. Is the framerate supposed to be this terrible? It's barely playable. When I pan the camera, sometimes it pans slowly, sometimes fast. Seems like everything is moving in slow motion occasionally. If that's what the game is like, I'm going to get rid of it... >_>

What are your PC's stats?
Game runs just fine by me on Mediums and Highs... And I don't have a SUPER high performance rig.

Drop all the graphical settings to minimal and start from there. If it still runs like shit rather throw what ever ancient piece of crap your trying to play it on away and get something a little more up to date. If it runs really well slowly up the settings until it becomes bad. Thats how you find your ideal graphic settings. GW isn't WOW it needs more that the specs of a 1950s calculator to run.

Ok so my client is refusing to update, its telling me I have no internet connection. . .

Disable your firewall, I get this issue constantly.

The game is very very CPU dependant so even a Core2Duo is not really enough for this game...

Omega, I disabled the firewall, tried 2 different ISP's and still no luck. So I gave up after an hour or 2's fiddling to make it work. No idea what to do. It seems tho there are a fair few people on the forums with the same issue.

Ah I see. I didn't have this issue, logged in quickly to check that everything was fine and then jumped back out. Hope you get it sorted.

Ok so after reading the forums, it seems that it is a ZA, USA and AUS issue, specifically WebAfrica, but for some reason using my afrihost account didnt solve the problem. So I will try the VPN fix that a fair few people have tried and said it worked. Gonna attempt that at lunch today.

Core i5 Quad, reporting in, 13fps on WvW...

Heh my Phenom II x4 gets the same in those damn zergs, however normal PvE runs really smooth.

Good luck with that, must be hellishly annoying for you by now.

Same problem here, mate. One thing that worked for me though is setting gw2.exe to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Might be a placebo effect, or just variables coming into play, but so far I've noticed a general increase of about 20 FPS.

Just gonna copy what I see in the System part of the Control Panel:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.70 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB

Card is a Geforce 580 GTX
Windows 7 Home 64 bit

That's a pretty beefy PC, you shouldn't be having framerate issues. Make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers.
