Yeah like Wyvs says we do talk in guild chat but are usually more active on TS. There aren't very many active members except the regulars using TS so guild chat is generally very quiet.

Also as for your point about game sound, I guess I can see your point, but after you've heard a sound once, unless it's spectacular there's little reason to hear it in full again. On my first run for Mad King for example I just muted TS till his dialogue was done, after that there's no reason to listen to him again.

I have a balanced sound setup so neither the game nor TS overwhelm each other and I can hear both equally well.

Rage post incoming:

I am a member of SL, STI, Knights of Aghulas, Scatterlings(GWSA) and one other, a small friend based guild. I regularly pop into each of these to see where the guild chat is, when I see it happening, I stay. Yes, I ONLY use guild chat, not voice comms. When I run a dungeon or do WvW with guildies, I use voice comms. Unfortunately 95% of the time, the ONLY guild chat happening is in SL. I have a theory about that. The more MMO newbies you have in your guild, the better the guild chat.

Look, I am not insulting any of the other guilds I am a member of by saying that they don't have guild chat happening, I am just stating a fact. I rely on guild chat to get involved, to help, to join dungeons runs, to get and give advice etc. I don't see it happening in the other guilds. Now this crap has happened and it is making me kitten angry. Now I have a choice: watch smear campaigns and crap happening in SL guild chat, hoping for something useful to come up or stare at the *tumbleweed* in STI, Scatterlings, Knights.

Why don't I use voice chat for general guild connectedness? Because I LOVE the in game sounds, trust me, no matter the fact that I have heard my guardian shout "Save yourselves!" 5 million times, I still like hearing it. Voice comms spoils that for me.

"Sorry Logan, what did you just say about why you left Destiny's Edge? Please repeat that, someone just asked where the new Ori nodes were and dimmed your soliloquy out. Oh crap, I have to play through the whole story quest line again on another character to hear it, oh well."

So now I am REALLY pissed at BOTH Shirou and Bushbaby, since no one really knows what happened. They have spoiled my guildwars 2 guild feeling COMPLETELY.

Now I have to decide which guild I am going to leave (you can only be a member of 5 guilds max) to see where else I can find active guild chat.

I hate guild drama, really spoils everything for me.

I do understand where you're coming from Shrike - although the last time you visited STI we only had about 14 or 15 members. And things were a little quiet then.

As Isengard and Waco (and also Wyvern) can confirm, I don't use TS all that often myself either, even though it's being paid out of my own pocket - I prefer to leave TS for those times we group up for dungeons or specific events - when I find that the general rage (1st jumping puzzle springs to mind) was actually a large part of the enjoyment.

That being said - you'll find our chat being quiet in the early part of the evening up until about 7'ish. After that, we usually have between 10 - 15 people online, and while the chat window isn't exactly endless scrolling, the activity is there.

I'll leave off with a few final thoughts.

I dislike politics intensely. And with the juggernaut that SL turned into, it was inevitable - I think very few of us doubted that this was going to happen somewhere along the line - in my 5 or 6 years of playing MMOs I've seen multiple guilds/legions implode, mainly due to their size. This was one of the reasons I wanted to keep STI small - we've got 37 members last I checked - and I'm happy to maintain the guild in that region.

I believe one of our strengths is what I'd like to call decentralised leadership. As much as I'm the leader of the guild in name, I have no intention of setting rules and/or telling people what they need to be doing - I've got 4 very capable officers who I trust with the guild's management and resources, and they've been great so far. We don't have any egos getting in the way, no politics, no other hassles - we just go about doing our thing and occasionally linking up to do things.

Frankly - I'm just happy not to have gotten involved in all of this, since I would have been moderately pissed if it was my e-mail addy plastered on the internet. And I'd like to keep it that way.

Does magic find count for chests or only monsters you kill?

They only work on creature kills, chests however have a better table then normal kills. We wanted to avoid the game play of killing a boss and then having to equip your whole Magic Find set before opening the chest.
Also magic find is calculated from when the creature is killed so it’s also not viable to use your normal gear set kill a boss then switch to magic find.

Well ... I think I'm going to try get the dungeon and WvW achievements done as quickly as possible. The WvW one is by far the most annoying.

Seriously... if they want to take stuff away from the monthly, why not take the wvw kills away. It's the most annoying one to get from all the achievements. Plus the dungeon one is quite interesting. Going to force the guild to do more dungeons

Yeah - in STI I govern with a sponge fist. So it bounces off people and they don't really pay attention

Well it is possible that they will put in dungeon finders seeing as the dungeon updates are coming with the november patch so far I know, but i doubt that they will. IMO Anet would've put it in long ago if they really wanted to. People have been asking for it from the start. So it is possible, but i highly doubt it.
Btw, the the dungeon updates are only speculation. Nothing has been said about the november patch so far.
