Guild Wars 2

Wyvern, can you guys throw me a visitor-lowbie-type invite to your guild? Keen to say howsit to you and shadow etc.

Oh...Shadow...btw, I think it's about time for a Shadowfox's epic GW2 starter guide. ;)

lol ... I've considered and discarded the idea :D

There's just way too much depth to GW2 to do a simplified guide - if I did one there'd be so much left out I may as well not have bothered :p

With awesome guildies, you dont need a guide. Just ask :)

Anet has posted the following on the forum concerning the patch on the 15th:

"Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:
On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.
*On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in.
Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:
The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.
We will give you more details once we get closer to the event, but wanted to give you an early heads up so you can plan accordingly."

Sounds interesting, but 22:00 on a sunday is quite shitty timing for a one time event imo.

Update - 05 November 2012
Corrected drop rate for Unidentified Dye.
On November 1, we introduced a change that unintentionally increased the drop rate of Unidentified Dye. Today’s game update corrects the drop rate for Unidentified Dye.

Well I guess we were not lucky at all... I can see the prices of dye going up again. :(

Found this on Reddit today - made me lol for a while - titled "A level six warrior takes on Cursed Shore (Maguuma)":

Alive, but a bit worse for wear after braving the Straights of Devastation by tagging along with some sort of ‘Pact’ trying to fight some sort of ‘Temple of Bulbasaur.’ The high level folks seemed pretty worried about that battle, so I made a break for Malchor’s Leap after they reached the Pact Rally. Then I jumped into a ravine and swam around in the ocean until I could make the final run to Cursed Shore. I feel stronger than when I left Divinity’s Reach. I even got something called a ‘skill point’ and got this pretty sweet banner than helps me run past zombies more easily.

Upon arriving in Cursed Shore, I noticed some high-levels were looking for help with something called a ‘Plinx Chain’ which I assume is some sort of mystical artifact. Curious, I joined a party and managed to assist in the killing of a Champion Abomination. I learned I could charge the abomination with my new ‘Banner’ to cripple it and provide speed boosts to my newfound allies to escape its clutches. I even dealt a couple damage to it with these unexploded bomb shells lying around everywhere. I got a couple of ‘Porous Bones’ from the body and promptly sold them to what I assume is a deformed child. What riches! I will be able to repair my armor with little economic difficulty this week.

It was then that my party realized I was level 6 and began to shout at me about why I was here. I tried to explain that I ran all the way to Cursed Shore to help the fight against Zhaitan but it was to no avail. They yelled and abandoned me, and I had to run all the way back to the safety of Caer Shadowfain by myself. No easy task to do alone, I assure you.

I remain resolute. The wargs and spiders could not stop me from doing what I can to help fight Zhaitan. I can outrun a centaur and I will not rest until my Dull Blade runs black in the blood of undead. No amount of angry allies will stop me from aggroing everything and triumphing in order to fulfill my duty as a warrior to protect Tyria.

You may run into me on the Maguuma Server hitting Zhaitan's minons for that extra 1 damage on a crit. Every point of damage matters in this fight. -Biology Student, level 6 warrior.

Now would have been the time to buy the dyes en mass, then wait for the price to stabilise back and make lots of gold. Too bad I'm at work now. :(

Yea, prices where just under 2s at 1s 95c last I checked this morning. I suppose the price will rise up to about the 3s mark again.

Got excited when some one linked a Triforge pendant, then had a look at the stats. 40+ to everything, not that great. Rather make the emerald pendant that you use to make TF 90+ on the primary stat.

Well at least there is some good news. The dye drop chance is still higher than it was before. I got 4 dyes halfway in the priest phase during grenth. Well that will probably mean more to people who have done the event before.

Nevermind. 4 different kinds of pink. Fml...

That's fantastic!

Reminds me of the time I ran my lvl1 priest in the old wow map from Stormwind, via Duskwood / Stranglethorn Vale / Mulgore to the gates of Orgrimmar. By the time I got there I was lvl3 from all the explore XP. The hordies were perplexed to find me there and I made new friends until one of them 1 shotted me with his fishing rod. Dick.
