Guild Wars still worth it after all this time?

If you want a background knowledge to the world then go for it, but guild wars 2 has new races and new events that basically make it a new game as such that you do not really have to play the first one. Also if you do buy the first one, your character name will be reserved for the new game. Just not your character, that wont transfer unfortunately.
 
I have guild wars laying around. Where can I find active guilds that will take me as a member if I decide to play again. Because I only scratched the surface last time I played. Can't wait for Guild Wars 2, but since I already have all the guild wars 1 expansions, I don't see why not.

If you have the Nightfall expansion hang around Kadam The Jewel of Istan and their are usually active guild recruiting, i actually joined a pretty active guild on Friday, or you can try Lions Arch or Shinjea City
 
Yeah just stand around any major city and there should be guilds recruiting. People will usually jump to recruit a new member.
