Thinking of giving it a go. Anyone can recommend anything?

Cause like... there's chapters and stuff that's not expansions which means I don't progress through the chapters so why call them chapters... and stuff... I'm confused

What else..... where I can I download the game

Guild wars is amazing!

But do yourself a favour and try not to compare it to WoW... you'll be let down then. The once off payment is also VERY nice & the landscapes are beautiful!

You'll really enjoy prophecies. I personally have it & Nightfall, even though both my chars are still only lvl 10 (lvl20 - max)

The PvE content is all instanced, so you only see others running around in outposts&cities or "BG's".

EDIT: See each "chapter" as a standalone game (even though it's a continent you can visit if you have the other chapters) with it's own special classes you can choose, starting areas, leveling zones & end games.

It could be like comparing Kalimdor to Eastern Kingdoms. People can communicate across the chapters on text channels etc.

oh ... and if you can't find someone to party up with you, just hire an NPC hero :D

Guild wars is darn cool dude. Just get it! Don't buy each chapter individually, you can get the whole lot of R399, thats what I did. I think this is well worth it.

The game is a HUGE game man!

I suggest starting with Prophecies, as it is the start campaign (storywise) and see if you like it. That is currently the only chapter I have completed almost everything, there are 25 missions / with bonuses -- and countless quests!

Later on, the game does get VERY hard, especially if you just going to try everything with henchies alone....

There are sooooooo much to do in the game, and Title track achievements will keep you busy for a very very long time indeed.

Overall, I love the PvE, its very nice!
The PvP is not 100% my thing, but I do love playing every now and again and try collecting some Zaishen Keys / Alliance faction!

Compare it to WOW? Well lets not go there, GW graphics better though... AND THE NO-monthly fee is a winner!

PS: If you need a guild, PM me! :D

Tried it for quite some time and got so very, very bored of it. It eventually gets to be grind as far as I can tell.

They have:

Warrior
Paragon (paladin)
Ranger (hunter)
Assassin (rogue)
monk (shaulin melee priest?)
Elemental (mage/druid?)
Necromancer (warlock'ish)
Dervish (paladin/rogue mix?)

Each class can also have a 2ndary class from any of the above. There is only one race - human. With no faction split.

Chameleon is right - if you think WoW's maps are big ... you haven't seen ANYTHING!

LOL, yeah I am still trying to finish my Explorer title in Prophecies---currently at 87% :p

Still need to finish the damned Southern Shiverpeaks, and some parts in Crystal Desert - (the one mission has about 30% unexplored)....

You left out the Ritualist and Mesmer. Also, there is a faction split if you have Factions...lol. You choose between Luxon and Kurzick. Though your choice of faction doesn't close many doors and you can still communicate between factions.

Acid, do yourself a favour and buy the Guild Wars Complete Collection. It's R400 from CNA and you get all three chapters and the expansion.

My apologies Lydon :o

I was trying to remember them off-by-heart. I'm sure you lads can give a better breakdown of the classes.

My first class was also a Warrior, but I went for W/E.

I remember a fight against a named mob and 2 adds when I was level 10 that took about 5 minutes. He kept healing himself and the adds and I found it difficult to kill them. I found a certain attack rotation that did a bit more damage than he could heal, but it was still a tiresome fight. I stopped the warrior shortly after that.

I prefer my assassin. It has a complex style which makes it more interesting. You rely heavily on attack sequences rather than spamming a single attack.

Yeah, I thin W/E would have very little energy.... so spells wouldnt work that well...

My main character is a Ranger / Ele, sometimes I have a complete Ele build, depending on where... I also have to manage my Energy well lol :p
