Gunned up

All this talk about the shooting events has inspired me to start up a new thread about guns.

I'm an avid enthusiast, I've got two firearms of my own and I've got two more acquisitions in the works and I go shooting at my club once or twice every month.

What about the rest of you guys? Do you own any guns? What have you ever shot with? Do you have any favorites?

I used to own a 38 special but no longer.

Grew up with guns. My dad has about 4.

My uncle was a gun collector. Shot his R1 and AK47 on a few occasions.

Yah, my dad's a gun freak, so I spent alot of my childhood shooting. Target practice is fun but not a big fan of killing bambi. Personally I only own a .22 collectors edition from 1950 or something. It's a family airlume.

i want to get on it.

i have fired a 12 gauge pump action shotgun, .357 magnum revolver, 9mm pistol, .45 cal pistol, .303 hunting rifle and a .308 hunting rifle.

Right now I've got a modified Dragunov SVD with Akasia white hardwood furniture, the dovetail mounting swapped for a Picatinni rail attachment and it's been down chambered to accept 7.62x39mm. (AK-47 rounds instead of the 7.62x54 rifle rounds) The other gun is a HK Mark 23 .45 ACP pistol fitted with a recoil compensator.

The other two I'm working on getting is a FN PS-90 (A civilian adaptation of the P90) that's been chambered for 5.56mm rounds. (5.7mm advanced polymer rounds are frikken expensive at about $3USD per round, a little too much for my taste thanks, considering it'll only ever be used once.)

FN PS90 - a civilian semi-automatic only version of P90 with long barrel.

And an HK SL-7 7.62x51mm rifle with polymer furniture and picatinni mountings.

After that, I want to get a hold of a Neostead shotgun.

I also want guns... but it's a bloody mission to get a license these days... goverment totally f'd it up!

What I'd like to know is, how hard is it to go abouts getting your gun license now days, and what are the possibilities of getting it?

Well Gimaru, as far as i know, the government is so behind on the renewal of licenses that you'll have to wait a couple of months if not years to get it. I know farmers who have now been waiting for 4 years for their license renewal. They had a long story about this on Carte Blanche some time ago. That's why i don't even bother!

I managed to get the licence for my pistol in within 2 months and the dragunov's one I got in just over 3. If you're patient enough and go through the right channels, you'll definitely get your licence in the end.

One of the criteria to be elegbible to get a licence though is that you must have a suitable safe to put the gun in. I don't keep my dragunov at my house and I keep it stored at the club, and I've got a wall-mounted safe for my .45 in my cubbard.

I love guns.
I own 3 handguns and 1 rifle.
2 of those handguns are rigged and customized for Tactical Shooting runs (It's a sport).

The other is magnum rifle, and a colt .45.

PS: For anyone wanting to get a license, join a gunclub. Makes the whole thing a hell of a lot easier. Also, gun-clubs will introduce you to the actual sport events and such, like Practical Shooting, etc.

What wheunis said. My gunclub did a good deal of the work for my licences all I had to do was sign forms and do the tests.
