The Cinematic Mod (CM) is a Half-Life 2 modification, that adds more details and a darker look to the original Half-Life 2 series.

Purpose of the Cinematic Mod
The Cinematic Mod features:

Raise the quite outdated graphical appearance to a state-of-the-art level
Give the HL2 trilogy a more stressed, darker and minatory look
Complement the atmosphere with a emotional cinematic music soundtrack, that fits the action on the screen
Replace the low-resolution textures with high resolution counterparts and more detailed environments (hires melons!)
Complement the storyline with the unused content from the original games
Refresh the look and feel with optional new HD models
Add more replay-value

Finally been completed, version 10.2 is out now YAY. Downloading as we speak. It's a big Download, but check the screenies for yourself. As mentioned above, it increases view distance, replaces the models of characters, guns, objects with HD ones, Textures are replaced with HD textures, there is a new more orchestral music score, and some gameplay tweaks are included.

That is very nice. Hmmm if I ever decide to play through HL2 again then I'll give it a try. Thanks Maplassie! :)

Only problem being system requirements hehe.

To be able to run with everything on HIGHEST you need 1024MB VRam, otherwise it stutters. Minimum of 3 GIG ram, and it will be unstable on a 32bit OS.

Nice find there mappy... the mod looks so much better than the original :) have u used it yet??? and if so do you find it improves the game so much more???

I used earlier versions back in the day version 2-4. Made a huuuuuuge difference.

As the author says, adds alot of left out content aswell. These even include physical levels and areas. And then if you check the screenshots, its not only higher rez textures, but the other Included stuff like scenery objects etc, makes the gameplay MUCH MUCH more immersive. The lighting and anbience is brilliant, and now places like ravenholm is actually KAK scary.

There are alot of rebalance tweaks aswell. Weapons do much more damage, but inturn, you receive alot more damage aswell.

I was killed with 1 rocket from those chopper things when I tried the above mentioned earlier versions. Usually on Stock HL2 you can take about 3 direct shots from it.

I took 1, and it was not even a direct hit. Makes you play the game differently aswell.

So Ravenholm and the cemetary scene actually brings out that sense that ur in a graveyard and makes it that more intense???

There are added ambient sounds, lighting is completely redone, all high rez ofcoarse, much more creepy........

hhhmmmm sounds pretty interesting I think i'll download it when i get home today and check it out... thanks mappy :D

Worth it though.

To put it short and sweet. It's like Half-life would have been if it were only released this year, or next year. COMPLETE overhaul, Graphics, Sound, Models, Extras, Deleted stuff put back, Music, gameplay tweaks etc etc If you go read the forums on this mod, Some ppl using GTX295 cards have to turn off some features/ scale down the settings to get it to run smoothly. It looks THAT good.
