Have to replace some components.

Hey Guys. I need some advice. I have to replace some of my components due to water damage. I have about R14000 to work with. The Previous components are all in my sig.

-CPU: i7 960
-Mobo: Gigabyte UD7
-GPU: Gigabyte GTX580
-PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 800w

Thanks guys.

That is the problem hey. I have got ocz ram already so i wont find a matching stick of ram. The other this is that i have R14000 to spend from insurance, if i dont spend it i lose it. So i wanna max it out, dont wanna lose. How does the i7 960 compare to the i7 2600?

When OCed, the I7 2600 will be better.

Also, you don't say what you have to replace. Maybe get some other SSDs with the money left over. :)

I did say there what i need to replace in my first post. i also have 2x ssds in raid0 don't think i need another one but thanks for the advice though. I have had a look at the i7 2600 and it looks good. Just don't know how i am gonna use the triple channel ram with the dual channel (meaning how am i gonna get identical stick for the last stick of ram from ocz)? Will i have to replace all the ram with new ram.

Use the leftover on new memory or SSD or whatever then.

imho the LGA1155 is a better option as it will have some future safeness. I haven't seen any new LGA1366 processors out for a while. Not sure what Intel's plans are for that socket. And the new i7 2600 has some awesome performance!

Check out this for an indication. Compare the 2600k to the 980x.

Benchmark comparisons!

Cool. This i7 2600 is looking good. Thanks for the advice. Do you think i could get identical stick of ocz 2gig 1600 ram?

IF you are lucky, yes, but I doubt it. Just get new memory for the last R2500. The CPU is really very impressive. The guys at computersonly OCed a 2600k to 4.8Ghz on air cooling alone and it's stable.

My mistake, I thought it's just some of the components you are looking at... :o

Edit:

If you are only going to replace those 4 components, then look at these maybe?
Intel Core i7-2600K
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme
EVGA GeForce GTX580 1536MB Superclocked
Corsair HX750W

You will have to pay R241 in though. :p

Use your current ram, but only use 2x of the 3 sticks... Till you get a 4th one.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

I'm not too clued up on the latest CPU and motherboard goodies, so I can't help you much there other then saying in my experience Gigabyte boards are the way to go.

GPU wise I'm sure you can probably get better value from one of the ATI cards, but I don't think you can go wrong with the 580GTX if you have the cash lying around :)

PSU wise though, I see that Gigabyte 800w has received some very positive reviews, although personally I would highly recommend a Corsair, maybe something like an HX750W. I think they come with a 3 or 5 year warranty as well.

Very nice system but personally I would rather go for an ASUS Maximus iV Extreme (Rev B3) mobo!
But the Gigabyte is pretty decent too!

Hmmm. R7300 that could be an option. Do you know when they will become available? R7300 is still cheaper than 2x GTX580. How power hungry is the GTX590? If I overclock is 800w gonna be enough?

I think the 800W would be more than adequate.

hey guys. need to know what the difference is between the i7 2600 and the i7 2600k. i am gonna order the parts either today or tomorrow so if you can help ASAP. Thanks so much.

The K version has an open multiplier. ie easier to overclock! For the extra R100 or R200, it is entirely worth it.
