Have you ever created game content?

I thought about giving it a try once, but never actually got around to finding out what is involved.

I used to build maps for Build engine games (Duke 3D and Blood), Unreal Engine 1 and 2 and Quake 3. I never promoted the stuff publically, but had many hours of fun sharing them among friends. My most popular map was DM_Clichè for Unreal Tournament. :)

I was pretty into the Tomb Raider Level Editor back when it released with the 5th game, Chronicles, if that counts. It's still got a very strong community and has come pretty far with modding etc, the editor's capabilities extending far beyond what was originally possible. Wish I'd stuck around with it but I just wouldn't have the time these days.

I used to use the editor from Neverwinter Nights to cheat. Basically I would make a module and then create a bunch of OP weapons and some custom armour and then just drop everything on the floor in the module and then load it up with a character and collect everything. My weapons were so OP the game froze for a few seconds to load all the effects of the elements I put on them.

I also used Oblivion's editor to make an Island which I then filled with all the rare plants in the game so I could go harvest anything if I needed it. I also made a character that could improve my archery skill when I couldn't find a decent trainer anywhere.

I made levels for Doom and the Unreal games back in the day. Then I made a game engine and then I helped make a game.
