Ever since I saw the artwork of this game I've wanted to play it. The mood, the setting, the mythology, all of it seemed awesome. Since I had a month of Origin Access I decided to finally play it and I have been amazed by the game.

The Banner Saga is an epic role-playing game inspired by Viking legend. Hand-painted landscapes portray a world eerily suspended in perpetual twilight. Cities and towns begin to crumble into chaos. Heroes abandon their hearths and homes to traverse the snowy countryside, gaining allies along the way to help battle a strange, new threat.

Decisions have consequences; wise choices must be made when conversing with possible allies during intricately crafted dialogues. Turn-based strategy brings tactical challenge in hand-animated battle sequences. With visuals evocative of the golden age of animation, The Banner Saga brings skillfully crafted art, story and strategy to gamers waiting to re-experience classic adventures and tactics.

The story telling is great, I love the world that the devs have created and the concept of travelling that is one of the central parts of the game. So many epic fantasy stories involve great journeys as the heroes travel from one part of the map to the other. The characters are interesting which makes it all the more gut-wrenching when a choice you made resulted in their death.

I have been captivated by this game and eagerly want to know, and dread, how it will end (I'm still busy playing through it).

I get that, it is definitely a slower paced, or rather drawn out, kind of game. It suits my personal tastes perfectly though.

I normally like slower paced games and I thought I would like this too but for some reason it never grabbed me. I know BeoTeK also likes it a lot.

I didn't like the combat mechanics. I generally like turn-based games so I gave it a shot but the gameplay put me off. The story seemed ok though, but couldn't carry the rest of the game.

It was great. And then it just ended out of the blue. Simply way too abrupt.

I decided I'll get the rest once all 3 are out and on a decent special.

I've heard a lot about it but never really felt strongly enough to get it.
