HD 4890 selling at R2650

Best to do some research to work out peak power consumption.

Intel Q6600 = 102W @ peak
DDR2 667 = +-10W
19" LCD = +-25W
HD4870 = +-180W
HD4890 = +-190W

So all in all, depending if u have any extra pci cards,usb(how many devices you have plugged in)

I would recommend a bare minimum 500W with 2x 6pin 75w PCI-E connectors
In other words you would need something that can push 40A on a 12V+ rail, and that aint gonne be cheap :/

Either those myself and ZenbaaS just gave advice on would be good choices, just depends how much money you want to part with ;)

Don't cry, i bought a 1100W PSU LOL :P

Hmmmm, so all in all around R3700 for a new card and PSU. I might as well add a new game as I can feel a rather cold shoulder for the next few weeks ....

Get Anno1404,Prototype,GTA4,World in Conflict for sexy GFX. But now you sit with a problem of your screen not being good enough. Might as well spend another R1499 on a Samsung T220 :p

If you were my drinking buddy my wife would say that you are a bad influence .... :D hmmm, brb, lemme look at that montior ...

Actually it isnt as bad as it sounds at home. Rule of thumb is cash only, no credit and it's all good. :)

So i suppose it's a bad idea to tell you that Game is having a special on atm for the Samsung T220 for R1499? ;)

*apologizes to wife* but he asked advice, it's his fault =points=

Ag whom am I kidding, she is going to slaughter me ... Hmmmm does game sell PVR decoders at all? I know it's a constant battle between her and the kids and channels ...

I doubt it, i've never seen a Dstv decoder in any GAME store i've ever been in.
Besides you can only get a HD PVR now, no more "normal" PVR anymore.

So you looking @ R3499 for one. Which is about the same price as your computer upgrade. LOL! Choices man :/

She gets HD PVR, I get upgrade to same value ... seems fair to me ...

So down to business: What do you think of the Sapphire HD 4890 1GB Vapor X?

Sapphire has always make excellent cards as far as i'm aware. The box looks purdy too. U don't get a lot on the box. But we don't buy it for such things anyways ;)

It comes with 4 different outputs. So it will fit any kind of connection. Plus it comes with a HDMI-to-DVI connector. Major plus for people with normal LCD screens :)
