HD 5870 reviewed and benchmarked

I like those benchies TM :D
But surely the performance would increase, if ever so slightly when the drivers are more mature?

Yea, seems I have no reason to upgrade in the forseeable future.
But single card is always better than any Crossfire/Sli which lives and dies by it's drivers
 
Retailers are being cheeky inflating prices at the moment, wait a bit for more availability.

Prophecy and Pcint should have them for around R4000, I expect other etailers to mark them up. Vote with your wallet :)
 
yeah... i'll wait...

as first i need a bigger case! the 5870 is too big for my Aurora 3d. :p

i'll need a cosmos or haf 932 to fit that monster! :D
 
Thanks for the review. I think I'll hold off on the 5800's for now and perhaps rather slap another 4890 into my rig.

Emailed pcint and they say they will only have them in by december :( So waiting game it is then.....
 
Distributors are selling it at R3999 ex VAT.

Add VAT and markup and this card is not nearly at the price it should be. Good old SA public is being ripped off again!
 
At least the HD4000 prices have seen a slight drops since the HD5000 series has been released.
