HDMI 1.3 will support 3D TV, but there's a catch

There's something rather interesting concerning current generation TV's. Even though my TV does support Dual-Scan technology, it only supports HDMI up to v1.3 and does not cater for v1.4. So it seems all these versions of HDMI is just a money making scheme. I am sure as heck not going to upgrade my television JUST because my so-called "HDMI Spec" is too low while the rest of the hardware is perfect adequate.

3D will then remain a novelty in my house in that case. I'm more than happy with the hardware I currently have thank you very much.

Oh well, I think that 3DTV will be much like HDTV was a few years back. Only the rich or tecno addicts will get it initially and be the talk of the town for their novelty home entertainment. A few years later it will become more affordable, but still rather expensive. Maybe a bonus cheque or a surprise from SARS will allow me to consider it then, but after that, I have no doubt I'll be getting it at least a year or two before it becomes commonplace. By then I'm sure the 3D glasses will be cooler and more practical too.

3DTV is curently a novelty, in SA HDTV is just now coming in.. And i doubt that any TV Stations in the world are going to braodcast inmmediately in 3D.. Guess this is more for the 3D games and 3D Movies...
