Hellgate: London

Seeing as I am still playing Hellgate and took my Guardian, Rebecca to level 18 last night,
I wonder if I am missing something of this game's awfulness. Perhaps just a lack of experience of what is really good on my part?

I enjoy being able to use projectile weapons on the odd occassion. In fact I cannot kill those nasty floating lightning-belching spheres without them.

Tonight I go into the exo-thingy....

Fable rawked. I reserve judgement on Fable 2 until it rewritten and spruced up for the PC.

What I find quite interesting about Hellgate is how some people really enjoyed it while others utterly hated it. A friend of mine was bragging to me about how great it was and that it outran Diablo 2. I had about three people tell me that, but when I played it it just got so boring so fast.

Tarvos: While one's surroundings do become just a little too familiar as one progresses, I found that I had been sucked into the "fetch this", "kill that", "speak to so-and-so" and above all, "get to the bottom of the problem and give it a good kicking" ny that time and did mind that areas were being recycled.

Well, that's just another part of it, I completely agree. There was no variation in the quests. It was just gather/kill, over and over.

Tarvos, is that not true for most RPGs? The difference lies in how well the game developers disguise those RPG staples with things such as interesting characters
and storyline, not that I am saying that Hellgate shines in this respect, but it isn't
as bad as those who advised me not to get it had suggested. Not to me, anyway. ;-)

Techsmith 314: :D

I played it when it just came out.
Installed, played 2 minutes, uninstalled, improved my solitaire skillz.

LMFAO! Solitaire is the s**t!

Good review and I don't believe I'll be investing any time into this game. Thanks for saving me the trouble :)

current status of HGL:kr

account: we don't talk about it
subscription: we don't talk about it
overall impression: at least koreans are impoving it

I won it at Rage 2 years aggo, still have not played it due to the broken patcher. just awe full game.

Make no mistake it was released as if it was finished, but still being in alpha state. the devs of flagship definitly tried their best but in the end bill roper ran the whole mission into the ground.

Hanbitsoft at least are sorting out the ashes, what they have done have been each patch for the better, but they still though must sort out the dx10 part of the engine which still lags you to death if you open up your inventry.

Will we ever see a working (complete) Hellgate London?

I am just glad I did not pay for it, personally I would like to take a publisher to court for bad software like this, they should not release it in such a state!
