Help: Call of Duty 4 PC restarts.

I recently installed GTX275. I wanted to play Cod4 single player again before playing Modern Warfare 2. I cant seem to figure out why my PC keeps restarting while playing Cod4.

This only happens with Cod4 single player. After like 5 minutes in game my PC restarts(does not BSOD). I played online last night for about +-2 hours and this does not happen. It doesn't happen with other games either. Just Cod4 single player. This did not happen with my previous GFX card.

Any ideas? I have vista x64. My CPU is not over-clocked and I have a Vantec 620w PSU.

Turn on DEP for CoD4

DEP? Whats is DEP?

You mean dept of field in graphics settings?

I don't get very far. I get as far as the briefing with Captain Price. sometimes even at the fire range where you knife the water melon and PC restarts.

Edit: Found it in System properties in Windows. Its on already. :(

Edit. its not just happening with single player. Also multi-player now. I don't know if my PSU is underpowered. I have a Vantec 620w and it has two 6 Pin connectors for my GPU. That should be sufficient?

Nope :(

I "obtained" a copy of Modern Warfare 2(until I wait for my order to arrive) and started playing single player. The same thing happens.

Okay what drivers are you using after you installed your new gpu?

Not sure but google the sound problem cod4 had.

Its an XFX GTX275. So i downloaded the latest driver from XFX page after registering my card. Will Google the sound problem.

What software Can I use to monitor temp on my PC?

CoreTempnTune - nVidia motherboards only
Motherboard Monitor

All those can be used.
Get that program from nvidea site driver removal tool, run it and install the gpu drivers from the cd you got with it. then try running COD again, If it restarts again then go one version in driver version up till you find one that work.

I know its a lot of work since my brother also had to do the same with his old gpu(also a nvidea but not the same card as you.) He finaly found 2 versions above his cd drivers everything work.
The newest drivers also kept restarting games for no reason. So he was stuck with those drivers for a long time till I got him a ati card.

Sigh...

Ive been through like 6 drives. None of them seem to help. I played borderlands for about an hour and a half. It worked fine.

By any change can you find out what drivers your bro used? don't know if he will remember.

Finally made some progress last night :). I changed cod 4 settings to optimal system settings and played for 2 hours. I should have done this first(Stupid of me :confused:)

Anyway its probably one of those settings. Tonight I will turn on each setting on one by one and see which one crashes my PC.

I found out whats causing it. I can have everything turned up except I can't change my resolution  I can only have it on 1024x768. Any ideas?

That is weird...
sorry can't help again bleh no international.
So it could be your drivers as well see if your Nvidea is not forcing that resolution.

have you tried reinstalling cod4. Did you reinstalled windows. Also try getting the latest drivers at www.guru3d.com they are the best works great for me and I'm running a Geforce GTX280 with the latest drivers. to monitor you temp use the latest gpu-z.

if you can load that app and give us the temps for gpu and also the memory. maybe the memory is overheating.
