HELP! Connect PS3 to Net via Ethernet Cable & Laptop (without a router)

Hi there,

I have been struggling.

I just got a new laptop and I have been battling to get connected through it so that I am more flexible about where I can play my online games.

The bedroom is currently not really working coz my better half says the bedroom should be used for the games it is meant for (and that is not the electronic online type).

I am currently connecting via my desktop (Windows XP) using an ethernet cable. Connecting via XP was a breeze when I did it. I encountered no problems whatsoever. But Windows 7 on my laptop is a real challenge.

Please help.

My aim is to be connected by Sunday the 1st of April 2012.

Full instructions posted to this thread would help. Links to where I can find real help would also be welcome, including professional videos on YouTube.

Layman instructions please as I do not have advanced technical computer skills.

I will give full recognition to the one whose instructions enable me to achieve my goal.

I know this has been done before but the vast number of instructions I have come across on the net all just do not give proper detail.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if anyone will be prepared to give you a detailed explanation. But from my experience, I always had trouble getting a working net connection via internet sharing. Consoles just don't like it for some reason
