Finally got Modern Warfare 2, Now It plays nicely at medium high at about 30-6- FPS But now in those mission intros every time after its finished loading that little white bar its starts to lag like I'm playing on a Pentium 3! if I ether wait for it to finish or click to skip the video the game plays normal! :(
please help, I can't miss this awesome story

caboos I obviously don't need to upgrade :(

sounds like u could do with an upgrade.... go spoil urself and buy some upgrades :p

If it is only at the vids, you might have a codec problem

Nah not a codec problem coz the MW2 vids dont run on any codecs im familiar with... and its definitely a GFX problem as the vids are usually set to like a high spec considering its all part of the game and people dont wanna see pixels while trying to watch the story line pan out

+1

The game has been noted to have issues with Ace mega codec packs, and older K-Lite packs, sometimes only displaying a black screenduring videos, with only audio playing.

Syco you artard. The videos are pre rendered, your graphics options have nothing to do with them :D

Yeh they do... the game in general doesnt use any codecs other than the engine that it was designed on to run ingame cut scenes etc...

Negative sir, well to a certain extent. Yeah you can run the game on a stock fresh windows installation, without any codecs, that's true. COD4 had an issue with Ace Mega codeds 3.1 up to 3.8, whereby the game would immediately crash if you doubleclick the EXE file. Just by Updating codecs, you could play the game 100%. The engine is so finicky, even the options you choose while installing the codec packs can cause the game to go ape. I could not use 5.1 Surround in COD4 or COD5 just because of Audio codecs, it would crash the game......

The reason I know this to be true is because of what happened this weekend. I got a mate who's pc I did way back in 2008, he just came back from overseas, and bought MW2 while at my place. His game had the EXACT same Loading screen cinematic stutter, even after I did the neccesary Graphics updates etc. Bear in mind His specs : GTX280, Core 2 Quad Extreme, 4GIG DDR2 etc etc etc.... SO I was puzzled aswell. Updated his K-lite Codec pack, and Flash, to latest versions and his problems were solved.

Ok yeh I'll give you that as most games do run on some form of codecs, however if you were to go to your resolution and gfx settings and drop all of them down to the bare minimal you will see that your cut scenes quality is also able to lower down as they run on their own codec that you can adjust.... and they still run on the ingame engine.

Also if you were to disable the sync frame you will find the game should be able to perform better as this stops the game cutscenes from running on both at the same time...

EDIT: oh and what i just said is what you showed me when we were fixing my COD 4.... toxin managed to find a script for the console and for one it disabled the sync frame and it also happened in the single player cutscenes... u still checked it out and pointed to it.... :p

What type of pc do u hav ?

It does the same on my lan pc but i thought it was normal since im using the onboard radeon 3200 igp.

Lan pc specs
Biostar A780G SE mobo
Amd Athlon 2 X4 620 2.6
2 gigs Trancend ddr 2 800 (512 megs shared with onboard radeon)
640 gig wd caviar blue

Ok well finish MW2 1/2 a hour ago, awesome game :D
1) You do know this is perendered videos in .bik format?
2) I have K-light v5 installed
3) never had a problem with cod4
5) though turning on frame sync would do something, it didn't
6) http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2009/...-errors-freezes-crashes-and-install-problems/ fix doesn't work
7) Do note that this stuttering/lag only happens after the white bar has loaded
8) Celeron D 2.8Ghz, 2GB DDR2 800, ATI HD4650 512Mb, 250GB seagate barracuda SATA2

I've got the EXACT same problem. I personally think that after the game loads the next level, it already puts the player on the map, which means your PC has to play(render) the Mission Screen AND it's now running the actual level in the background, which it is not fast enough to do.

I've got an Athlon XP 2400 (Single core) @ 2100MHz, 1GB RAm and a Geforce 7800.

Oh and its AGP btw. hehe
I'll probably upgrade to something decent in the new year, i'm just waiting for the HD5850 to break the R3K mark.
