Hi there guys I need help locating Magnetic Ferrofluid for a project I am doing for my son.
I have made some weak variation from youtube.
But now I need to buy some if anyone knows where I can buy some .
Any help will be appreciated.
 
Aha there seems to be a fancy way to make it chemically , really hoped I could get it locally .
 
Ask chem department at varsities (or even schools).

This stuff isn't dangerous afaik so it shouldn't be too difficult to get.

Story time: I needed sulphur for a school project. Me being a craft little kid I got hold of a list of chemical suppliers. The phone calls went down like this:
Me: Hello. Can you supply me with sulphur?
Supplier: Yes sir. How many tons do you need.
Me: 1 kg please
Supplier: haha. Sorry kid - half a ton minimum.
 
For a basic Ferrofluid you need Iron Oxide and Oil;

Quick way to make Iron Oxide is to burn steel wool. The black powder you have left after burning steel wool is mostly Iron Oxide.
