guys, i hope someone here is an electrician or has some thoughts on how to track down a tripping issue. here is the scenario :
last night, during a crazy thunderstorm, one of the big green switches on DB board tripped. I tried pushing it back up, but it re-tripped.
i then switched all the small white lights and plug switches off and retried one-by-one and narrow problem down to a single PLUG switch. with that off, i can put main breaker back up. moment i lift that white one, the green breaker trips again.
with that white PLUG switch down, my study and garage are without power. study has 3 plug points and a florescent light, and garage has one plug point (powering garage door) and a single florescent light. Also, my bedroom plugpoints are knocked out.
i have tried to isolate problem by switching off and unplugging everything in these areas, but when i flip the white switch it still trips the board. i suspect that water from rainstorm had leaked into something from roof and that was causing short, but how else can i narrow it down to specific room/plugpoint ??
