My girlfriend has the disc version of Sims 3 and has installed it and Origin on her netbook. The game runs well on her netbook but her netbook obviously doesn't have a dvd drive so she's been using my external dvd drive.
I've read a few articles on the interwebz about the fact that if you've bought a physical copy of an EA game you should be able to redeem the game on Origin to get the digital copy and thus not need to use the dvd anymore.
But when I redeem the product code on Origin it says that I must go to the sims 3 website and register the product code there. But I've already registered the game at the sims 3 website so it's a bit confusing to me.
tl;dr: Has anyone had any experience getting the digital copy of the sims 3 (through Origin) using a retail copy? if so, how did you do it?
