Highest rated PC games of all time

Agree with no 1 :), but I have not played bioshock yet :o

Personally I did like Tie Fighter and Dune (rp and rts) a lot.

I'd have put one of a few games in the place of Bioshock, like TIE Fighter Prophet mentioned, for instance.

Also, that's a screenie of Baldur's Gate, not Shadows of Amn.

I'm happy that The Orange Box and HL2 were the highest in ratings :D, I really wish they would release HL3!! :o

I would remove multi-plat titles, I am sure there are some higher rated PC exclusives out there with which to populate such a list. Bioshock for example was pretty much a straight up port from the console version with a laundry list of PC specific issues ranging from DRM to issues with certain GPUs. Where is Diablo 2 or StarCraft?

just my 2c worth.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but Bioshock shouldn't even be there, imo. It wasn't a bad game, but it is outshined by it's spiritual predecessor, System Shock 2. Besides, there were many much better games released in the years that came after Bioshock.

I actually found Bioshock to be very boring, well the 3 hours that I played of it so it wouldn't rate any where nearly as high as me.
How many people still play that game, I know a lot of people still play games that people above have mentioned, surely those should be up there, didn't they score higher otherwise many of those games were rated to high because they were the flavour of the month

Sesh so much Bioshock hate. For me Bioshock is easily one of my favourite games of all time, yes System Shock 2 is also up there and it certainly did some things better but as far as environment goes Bioshock just nailed it.

Yay! Its not just me. Loved Bioshock (played it on Xbox) to pieces, 2 was a bit of dud. For me Bioshock is the best example of how to use the art style and environment to tell the story.

I think these lists should be broken into categories like, best RTS of all time, best FPS etc. theres a sh!t ton of good games its impossible to make a true list. It may be best to just leave out the 'of all time' part and replace it with ' games that are worth every cent' or something.

'Best' lists are just for fun, also the article is about the highest rated not best games.

My best game of all time probably wouldn't even hit a top 100 list of best ranked.

Operation Flashpoint, gotta love that War Sim!

Of course I'm a simple fellow, so I would also add Quake 3 Arena to my top list of games, and for story I would go for Max Payne 1. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was great, but you just got to love the original.

Right now, though I think BF3 is getting close to heading for my top 5 games of all time :D

Just a side: I'm not a fan of Half-life, but thankful for what Valve did for the genre!

+1... I own both Bioshock 1 & 2 for years now and only tried out Bioshock 1 this past weekend (in an effort to work through my backlog)... The graphics and everything is great but I'm struggling to stay interested. I only managed to do 2 or 3 hours and then moved on to something else.
In the game's defence, I tend to get bored easily.

yeah lets not confuse most played vs highest rated!
also, we need to look at the time when the game was made... they didn't have the crazy gfx from d3 when they made bg2!

agree with earlier comment (which i also posted on main article) that we need to do this by category:
FPS
RTS
RPG
MMORPG

Most loved

Most played

top 5 of each.

also, please remember this is opinion! i might like world of warcraft which you think sucks dogturd, but i bought it, played it and loved it! i'm interested to know what games you like, not what you think of the games i like ;)

no-flame-monday!
