IO Interactive’s upcoming Hitman title, which will start as a digital release and incorporate content like events and contracts throughout the year, will be launching with seven missions.

According to a listing on Amazon for the physical copy of the game (which is out next year), Hitman will have an “Expanding World of Assassination: Travel around the globe in the seven all new missions in Season One.”

It’s interesting to note this because IO Interactive has made quite a big deal out of the game’s digital plans, including offering all upcoming new content for free. Obviously there’s a concern that players won’t get much at launch for $60 though.

More information is expected on the game’s day one content, which could end up offering much more than just these seven missions, so don’t panic just yet. Hitman will be available for digital download on December 8th for Xbox One, PC and PS4.

It seems to me that games now days will inevitably cost around R1000.00... With a game costing R700.00 you are almost forced to buy a season pass for the additional R300.00 (sometimes more) just to get the full value out of the purchase...

Become a patient gamer. ;) You'll end up saving a lot of cash, and usually get a better performing and more polished product. Also if you aren't on PC, move to PC, it's the cheapest platform. The initial cost is high, but the savings from sales are insane.

Anyway, this Hitman game is rather strange. It's essentially an Early Access title. Why don't they just finish making the game first, and release it when it's done? It doesn't sound like the initial launch will be worth the $60 asking price.

I hear what you saying, But i prefer to play on Console... I play a few games on PC, like Blizzard games, But everything else on PS4...

I really really REALLY hope this brings back the franchise. As a super super hitman fan I can only hope this will have all the inventiveness and level designs of those prior to absolution.

Pleeeeeaaaaase don't dumb down this game for the masses!

Dunno how you do it, console games are way too expensive. Plug in a controller to a PC and it's a console. :p

PC games are sadly getting expensive too. GTA V is R800 on PC in retail shops and other new games are R600. Of course you can wait until it's on a sale for dirt cheap, but patience is something I don't have.

Looking forward to Hitman. Want to wait for physical but I doubt I will be able to resist it once the digital version is out.

Hahaha, it's true. :)

That's just GTA though, isn't it? Rockstar's games are always super expensive. The only reason they can get away with it is because it's GTA, and it'll sell millions of copies regardless of the price. R500 - R600 is usually the standard retail price, and if you go digital (like with GMG) you can often get pretty good deals. I saw the new Mad Max going for R300 last week, for example.

You don't even have to wait that long either. Most AAA games take about 6 months to reach around $20 on Steam. That's usually the GotY edition with all the DLC too. There's so many games coming out all the time that I don't find waiting to be difficult.

Yeah only Rockstar can get away with that. But even R500 - R600 is still damn expensive for a PC game and many people, myself included, prefer physical copies so the wait until it becomes cheap is usually very long. CoD Advanced Warfare has been out for nearly a year and it's still R600 at most retail stores. Digital is obviously cheaper (Mad Max can be obtained for $20 if you know where to look), but not everyone can, or even want to, download full games from steam and the like.

To be fair, it's still the same price on Steam. Activision really doesn't understand the sales market on PC. :p Even the older Call of Duty games are still super expensive.

I also prefer physical copies, but if I have to pay a ridiculous amount more, than I'd rather just go digital. I prefer disks because it's usually faster than downloading, but so many games release in broken states that you still end up downloading 10 gigs in patches, so the benefit of having a disk at the point is essentially 0.

That's exactly my point. Unless it's on a sale/special PC games are still expensive as well. I wanted to buy Borderlands 2 GOTY for a friend but it's $40 on steam and I know BT sold it for R50 on a clearance a while ago. Gaming in general is getting very expensive.
