Hooked up my PC to the TV....

i've also got my pc and ps3 connected to my TV in the living room via hdmi cables.
I've got a wireless mouse and keyboard that i hide next to my usual seat along with my ps3 controller.

everything works quite well except for the default text size when running on 1920 x 1080 but you can luckily just increase windows' text size.

Tell me about it. Just at R1000+ I can get over 20 games over the steam sale which kills all my enthusiasm to upgrade :p

You make a good point :-D I just cant believe how bad XP is to Windows 8 though :p

Thanks for this, coz iv just been going closer to my tv when i select something to watch, never thought of changing the windows text size "whistling:

Have any of you managed to get your TV to run at 1080P without scaling the size down when connected to your PC? When I select 1080P, I always have to resize the desktop to a smaller size so that it fits properly in the corners. Even when playing games, I'm playing at a custom resolution rather than full 1920x1080. It's annoying. Is it some kind of Nvidia scaling problem?

I have a 51", full HD, 3D Plasma screen that is being used mainly for a curious form of entertainment called "soaps" by the person known as "my wife". I will soon be entering a period known as "annual leave". Fortuitously, I have also received an i7 4500U laptop with a dedicated HD8750M GPU from the company whose internet connection I (ab)use during the day. They stated the new laptop is for the vaguely defined purpose of "work".
I intend to attach this laptop to the previously mentioned 51" screen during my "annual leave" and allowing it to stream Steam in big picture mode, making sure the laptop performs a lot of "work" in the process. My "wife" will then be asked to view her "soaps" in the bedroom on the CRT screen.

Many TVs have a "fit to screen" option that automatically adjusts the picture to fit correctly. I had the same on my old 32" Samsung LCD and had to press the "P.Size" button on the remote for it to scale correctly. My newer TVs just adjusted themselves.

Same here, TV pretty much did everything for me, didnt change a thing but I cant remember the resolution I was getting... It looked fantastic compared to a normal monitor, so I didnt think to check i was just happy about it :D

How is the control responsiveness using steam streaming to your TV ? Anyone tried playing with a 360 remote or something ?

Controls are okay and responsive, as long as both PC's are on LAN cables. Wireless causes some input lag, and it's very prominent in FPS games. But once you move to a cable that lag is much less. Have not yet tried with a 360 controller, but it should be fine. The bottleneck is not between the controller and the PC, but on the network.

It has some delay, but it doesn't bother me. I play with a wireless 360 controller via my wired network.

Bringing up an old topic, but with regards to 32" FHD LED TVs, anybody has any experience using Sinotech or HiSense for normal computer use & gaming instead of a computer monitor? I'm looking to get another one with my eBucks, but I must buy it from Makro and they don't seem to have any FHD Samsung or LG. I'll maybe try and check out my local Makro tomorrow, but I've been to one or two stores already and I checked their website. LG and Samsung is only 32" HDR.

I have what you've mentioned [a HiSense 32" HDReady LED TV], which I'm currently using as a TV, PC monitor and for my PS3.

I decided to hook my TV up to my PC via HDMI from the HDMI-to-VGA connection I used previously -- the colour quality, saturation brightness and colour differentiation is marvellous. Blacks (black colouring) are deep and dark - whilst all bright colouring is vibrant and outstanding. I'd personally recommend it to anyone.

If this answers your question.

Edit: Monitor is supportive of all resolutions up to 1080p (1920x1080), only the Desktop resolution is clearest @1360x768 - its default Desktop res.

Fonts are clear. Moreso if you reduce picture sharpness.

Cool, and you're running 1920x1080 resolution? Text not blurry or anything like that?

In-game @1080p, everything is clear. Text is easy to read. There does appear to be ghosting at times, but only if you sit really close, or if there are swift camera movements.

Ok, got the Sinotec. It is the only FHD that Makro still sells. Samsung FHD discontinued in 32" and they simply don't sell other brands in FHD. Only from 40" and bigger. Got it for R500 less than I planned to spend and it has the auto-size feature so that text don't display blurry. Seems to be working nice so far.

Glad to hear it -- enjoy! :D

For anyone else who's interested in buying an LED TV for gaming, mainly pc gaming, I'd highly recommend Vizio screens.

Unfortunately, you'd need to order them off Amazon.com (~R4 800 for the 32" all inclusive) but the refresh of them is 60Hz, they look great as a screen and they perform excellently.
