Because I'm interested in going SSD, I was wondering, just how big is everyone's windows folder on their C drive? And also state which Windows you are running please.

well

At the moment i have only one SATA 500GB HDD

Im using Windows 7 Unltimate and currently i havent used anything more than say 15 - 20 GB

I have well over 450 GB available and a backup 160GB

Im not sure exactly what your trying to figure out though Den?

Simply, what is the size of your Windows Folder on your C drive. In theory, everyone's should be similar, but I'm just curious to see what sizes they are. Also, please state more or less how long you have had your current installation. ie, you just re-installed a week ago, or you've been running your current setup for a year.

windows 7

windows folder 27 gb (lots of shiit installed on pc) (partition size 150 gigs on a 640gig drive)

Mine's about this size:

My Windows folder is about 30GB, but Program Files (inlcuding program Files (x86)) is sitting at about 20GB as well. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I think the last time I formatted was last year sometime

Windows 7 Pro X86, 13.6 GB. I installed it about a year ago but just maintain it properly.
That is the size of my "Windows" folder, not of my entire C Drive or Windows partition. I suspect many people misunderstand the difference.

The Windows Folder size is not an actual reflection of what you would require in terms of space for a new installation
That Said

Windows Ultimate 64Bit
Current Installation - Invader 9 Months
Current Size - 15.7 GB

To calculate what you would need in terms of space you would have to look at your total size of INSTALLATION, including system reserved space, ancillary install folders, driver base, Shell Size etc

So As I said, this size should not be taken as a guide on what you would need in terms of storage
