Hi all

I have friend that has a new Samsung galaxy s3 and he can't seem to be able to connect to his playstation3 he is trying to watch movie through his phone. The PS3 doesn't pickup the phone for some reason, neither through the USB or Bluetooth, can some please help?

The GS3 goes into MTP mode when you plug it in via USB, google MTP and the PS3. Also you won't see it via bluetooth, is his PS3 on the network?

Launch Kies Air on the phone. This will enable the media server which should be shown on the PS3 under media servers.

I also don't understand the question...

If you want to play something on the PS3 that is located on the phone, you need a DLNA server in the phone. (I take it this is what you are trying to do?)

If you want to play something stored on the PS3, on your phone, you cannot.

That is what I am trying to do,is to watch movies from my phone on the PS3.Will I be able to have the phone and PS3 connect via WIFI without using a wireless router?

You will need wifi, how did you plan to connect?

If you are actually thinking of cables, why not get an hdmi connector for your phone, and plug directly into tv? Why even bother going via PS3 if you are not going to create a network? Then you can play the content directly on your phone and it will output to tv screen.

Im not sure what is PS3 usb capabilities, not sure it will pick your phone up as a usb storage device.

Not sure if the PS3 will pick up the media server running on the phone, the two wifi-enabled devices won't automatically create a wifi network... unless you have some app on the phone causing it to be a wifi hotspot (not sure about the correct terminology here, but I hope this helps.)

You should be able to pick up the Phone from the PS3 when you launch Samsung All Share. I know i have done this using my Tablet before.
But yes, you will need a WiFi network connecting the two devices.

Alternatively just plug in the phone into the PS3. BUT. when selecting the USB Storage Device, press the triangle button and select "Display All". As by default it will not pick up any media, as the PS3 checks standard folders unless you select Display all.

If All Share doesnt work, there are a few alternatives that might, all work essentially the same way though, through wifi. I used Skifta for a while when i was on Custom Firmware, as it didnt have a system DLNA service. It works well and was user friendly from what i remember.

I must be honest, i have never really gotten any stock samsung device to connect to my PS 3 via usb cable, i very likely could have been doing something wrong though.
