how do you check if your firewall is blocking the router?

Hey guys,

I have run into a problem. I can not access the website 10.0.0.2 from my main computer. when I set my internet up for the first time on this computer, it went through with not problems at all. The router that is giving me this problem is my netgear n300. i have two of them , i get the same problem on both of them. I use another one from d-link but its not mine, when i typed 10.0.0.2 it goes through with no problem.

I managed to access 10.0.0.2 with my sister's laptop in order to go into my netgear modem. is there a way I can check why I cant use 10.0.0.2 to login into my router with my main computer that is directly connected to the router via the cable? this is my ip address ( please click the link, its a screenshot) http://gyazo.com/16032d1c7bd1b2d782bed7a0032fb930

Please Help

Clear cache and cookies in your browser and try again.

By firewall do you mean your pc firewall ? Or is it a software firewall from anti virus ?

Since you get the 10.0.0.2 from your sisters computer, it is obviously the correct address for the router.

Make sure your system is set to DHCP. It could be you're on a different subnet.

Another thing. Can you ping 10.0.0.2?

After thinking about it some more the fact that you can connect from another PC means it's probably not the router firewall. Suspect windows firewall or AV firewall as mentioned above.

Try disabling the windows and/or AV firewall to test.

I cannot view the screenshot, proxy blocking it here at work.

Check if your LAN settings are set to Obtain an IP Address automatically, if not, set it to obtain automatically and try again.

My guess is, you have some manual IP Address configuration on your LAN settings which is based on a different IP range.

I do not have a Netgear so can't verify this, but apparently you can use http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com to connect to your router. These DNS records are hosted on the router and point to the config page.
tried them both mate, no joy

I'm guessing AP isolation is enabled, hence my question of WiFi or Ethernet.

Have you tried a different browser? What IP does your pc get from the router?

I have tried all 4 that I have.

its on automatically detect settings

run "ipconfig /all" to show more details for Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection

Dumb question, but why does it show "Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected"? is the cable unplugged?

Edit: Dumb question related to "Tunnel adapter isatap.{240E2FF1-FF8C-4F93-97D7-1042AAB85CD9}". Ignore that ;)

Probably a media server that is not running at the moment?

Is Network Discovery on?

You will get it under network and sharing cener advanced sharing settings.

If no luck perhaps go change the routers Ip address from your sisters computer.

1. Run elevated command prompt.
2. Type netsh winsock reset > ENTER:
3. The following message should be seen: "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart the computer in order to complete the reset."
4. Restart computer.

Another elevated command prompt that has been suggested is:
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit

Reset the IP stack and see if that makes a difference ?

Come right yet?

So could you ping 10.0.0.2?
I'm assuming you can access the internet from this PC?
Is windows firewall turned on?
Do you have anti virus with a built in firewall? and what?
Can you access the router from another PC because you gave conflicting info?

I managed to access 10.0.0.2 with my sister's laptop in order to go into my netgear modem.

Do you have wifi on the router and can you connect your phone to it? Use your phone browser to try access 10.0.0.2.

hey man, still no luck on this computer, i can connect to 10.0.0.2 with my phone and my sister's laptop when i plug her laptop to the router with the ethernet cable. i tried disabling everything, anti virus, malwarebytes, and the firewall but still no joy. i can access the internet from the pc yes. Im using bitdefender free version am not sure if it has built in firewall

Uninstall bitdefender and try again.

Also, run ADW Cleaner (from bleepingcomputer.com) just to check that nothing is hijacking your browser.
