How freemium games are ripping us off

I said it once, I'm going to say it again.

With my heavy work schedule, waiting for things to complete in the mobile games I play just work for me.

I get a few moments to play solid, and then I need to go I start a process and let it run. By the time I am done with what I needed to do (whether it be over 7 days), the task completed and I can happily continue.

I play Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Star Wars Commander and Dungeon Keeper on my mobile. Have been for a very long time. Have not purchased a single thing to advance. I'm part of a very awesome clan in Clash of Clans and we "frown" upon the guys who rush :D

With Hearthstone being the obvious exception, never will I pay for in-game content to get ahead. I enjoy games to much to rush it :)

On a side note, I agree with the article. They are absolutely ripping people off!

I played Clash of Clans for a good year or so. Once everything started taking weeks to upgrade, I lost interest completely.

I also played the Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy Quest For Stuff - also for a good year each. Once you get to the point where you have everything and the premium items are the only thing left....there simply is no point to it.

I think the only free-to-play game I actually enjoy is Brave Frontier, and that's because there's always new content, enough drive to keep playing, and no real need to ever pay for anything (they're quite liberal with giving away their in-game currency).

Card games like Hearthstone are different, to me. They follow the older model of collectable cards (like the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Magic The Gathering) with booster packs and such - only now it's digital.

I prefer to pay for a mobile game and have the full thing (The Room, The Room 2, etc), microtransactions make me sade :(

I shalt never spend money on a mobile game...
Completely unrelated... whats your clan name?

I will admit that I am in general completely uninterested in mobile games so I have to feel slighted by the freemium model.

I once forked out $0.99 on a fremium game. I regret even doing that.

I'm hooked on Beach Buggy Racing on Android. It's fremium, but you can easily move things along by adjusting your clock (backward or forward).
