How Many Leave Days Do You Get?

We get 21 annual leave days per year (which you have to take within 18 months of the start of the financial year) and 9 Occasional leave days per year (which you can either take as leave or keep it and have it pay out when you want).

I've also been working for the company for 6 years now, so I also got 42 days Service leave once off, and then a further 7 days of service leave per year from now on. You can also take it off or have it pay out.

One shitty thing is, if you take leave on a Friday and a Monday, they subtract 4 leave days, not just 2. So you lose days for the Saturday and Sunday as well, which sucks.

About 12 paid days. We have no choice but to take the builders holiday. Plus we start a week before the builders again normally.

Not enough...

Lol... We get 15 a year for the first 2 years, then after 2 years you go up to 18 days per year. But we have a mandatory 11 Days in December (builders holidays) and then on your 5th year, and every concurrent 5th year you get an extra 3 days but only for that year...

21 days leave but only 15 of those paid (weekends are unpaid for)

Standard BCEA then for permanent employees (i.e. 21 consecutive days).

Nice thing about being a business owner is you get all the leave you want, whenever you want. Sadly, that translates to never taking any leave, because you're always busy fighting fires.

What industry are you in?

I get 18 days leaver per cycle, which calculates to 1.5 leave days for every full work month. We are mandated to try and keep all our employee leave days at a maximum of 10 days per cycle, which means all employees must go on leave during the year to ensure their leave balance is not more than 10 days per year. I've been really bad at managing my own leave days. I haven't taken leave in a very long time and at the moment is sitting on 40.5 leave days. Never ever do that, cause now I'm gonna lose a bunch of leave because it's been accumulating for 3 years, and if I don't take it before June, I will lose the days.

Bottom line is, I need a vacation.

But I told you so!

None, apart from when the business closes. (month of July-not paid, and two weeks over Christmas-paid )

Nope, no shifts. Just the way it works for us.

Guess that is why we get the extra leave days.

I'm pretty sure it is not suppose to work like that. Logically it does not make sense that you have to put leave in for days you would not be at work any way. I think they are taking you guys for a ride.

Well, I can't really complain I guess. Now that I have been working for Eskom for 6 years, I get 37 days of leave a year (although 16 of those I can cash out if I want), we get a shit ton of sick leave each year (think it is like 45?) We also get 14 days Contingency leave each year, which can be used when your child is sick, you have to go to court, etc.

Right now, I have 79 days worth of leave I can take whenever I want (depending on my manager approving it, of course). This is apart from my sick and Contingency leave.

Wow, that is pretty good.
