First off, read the following article concerning Nintendo's Zelda: Wind Waker: http://goo.gl/RSnSe
The game is undeniably a perfect example how good game design can make a title timeless. Heck, it looks like it could have been released today in fact.
I've never played the game myself, but I have played Twilight Princess and most recently Skyward Sword. TP is essentially awful in my books when it comes to dated graphics, and I was so happy when Nintendo decided to go for a more painterly, less realistic approach. Realism isn't always the key to an impressive game it seems! It's about innovating design, using current tech in unexpected ways, and then you can produce something worth remembering ten years down the line.
Does anyone agree? Zelda has been on my mind a lot lately. Just love these games, and I can't wait to see how Nintendo will be using the Wii U's HD capabilities.
