How old are you? Spending, and other gaming stuffs

So, how old are you guys, how much do you spend on gaming a month, and what's your thoughts about the current gaming environment.

So, I am 29 (30's a month away) and own a PS3.

Xbox gamers will probably agree that console gamers get the short end of the stick when it comes to game pricing. Sure, we dont have to upgrade our machines but hell, the prices of new releases!!!
Then compare that to the overall time you actually get out of the title?? Doubt if I will ever buy another COD title just because of that. I dont care if the multiplayer/online features are expansive...I like playing single player campaigns and to have a game last 6-8 hours is bloody ridiculous if you look at the playtime vs price ratio.

Also not buying new games anymore...it's just silly to think that I can either buy a game that lasts +- 8 hours, or have food in my house for a week!! So, preplayed titles get a lotta attention from me nowadays.

As far as spending goes it used to be a game a month. I tried to keep it open to either a new, preplayed or older title but that's not the case anymore.

Nowadays I only buy titles I'm really interested in. Buying into hype is just not worth it. The last one being skate3. Other than that nothing really warrants my money in my opinion....maybe the gaming landscape is a bit dry at the moment....whatever...

im 27, got both ps3 and xbox
consider myself a very casual gamer - and to date have paid more than R300 on a game
90% of my games are preplayed or ridiculous specials sub R200
i just cant justify spending 500+ on a new game

I'm 27. I used to upgrade my pc as soon as new hardware came out, also used to spend lots on new games monthly. Now I only play and buy Multiplayer online games. Last SP game I bought was Dragon Age Origins, and while I was a HUUUUUUUUUUGE RPG fan back in the day, I found it quote boring, only played for about 2 hours. So I really don't buy that many games at all anymore, nor do I copy sp games to play.

There is an Xbox and a Playstation lying around here somewhere, but that's for the GF so I have no clue what games she owns and how/when she buys games............

I'm 27. I play only PC games right now. I buy about 1 game per month, usually single player games and since I got uncapped Steam has opened up a deluge of low priced games for me to try out, my most recent purchase being Episodes from Liberty City. I spend most of my time playing online lately while squeezing in a single player game here and there. I cant afford a console right now and since games are so pricey for them I'm going to hold off for some time yet.

I'm 23, own a Wii and Xbox.

I agree that spending over R500 is re-donkulous on games. The last game I bought was Halo3, it was on special for R200.

I mostly play online shooters, although I love single player games. I dont find much value in re-playing SP games, unless its games like L4D2 or Fallout. it took me a while a realise this, i went through a stage where i would spend over R1500 a month on games. But more recently i've only waited for the better titles to come out before I buy.

I must admit though, the Wii is awesome for gaming nights. The casual element of it makes for some fun drinking games and such.

I'm 25 and own a PS3, PC, Wii, DS and PSP

I play anything and everything, I'm in love with most genre's so I'm drowned for choice. I probably spend 1 - 2k a month on games across all platforms. I don't replay games, never have, just like I can't reread books and don't enjoy watching movies over and over. So replayability is never a factor for me. As long as the game is fun I view that as justifying my purchase.

I also have months were a pay a sub for one MMO or another.

Hardware wise I only upgrade when I can't play the latest games at max with good framerates. That's a lot less often than most people think.

27 year old PS3 addict. Well if you consider that I recently bought a R2500 LCD screen + speakers + cables and usually buy one new title a month since Jan, I reckon gaming's been bankrupting me. BUT its all worth it tho and now that I have everything for the console I'l be buying second-hand....till GT5, coz I'm sure not many people are gonna be selling that very quickly.

In 24, I own a Xbox , PS3 and PC. Spend bout R200 - R800 a month on games. Mostly only when new titles show up, other months i might spend nothing.

20. And I spend anything between nothing and R400 on games depending on if there is anything worthwile on the shelves.

The current gaming environment is declining and is going to cras, hard.

I'm 22 and currently playing on PS3 and Xbox360. The last game I bought was Need For Speed: Undercover on Xbox360 for R99 and before that was 3 months ago when I bought Mercernaries 2 on Xbox360 for R69. I have to complete all games I get (no matter how boring and repetitive they get) and never have more than 1 game in my collection that hasn't been conquered.

24 (less than month till i am 25), own a PS3 which i game mostly on and a PC which i rarely use for games. I spend on average R500 - R1000 on games every alternative month or when there are things to buy. I reply most of my games trying to collect and find everything.

I am 26 and own a PS3 and PC (used to have 2 Xbox's that both got RROD), yay for Microsoft :P

Play mostly PC, only use PS3 for blu-ray movies. I spend between R350 and R700 per month on games roughly.

The gaming environment is becoming quite scary for the PC gamers, and is leaning totally towards consoles. Most of emo, but we shall see what happens.

Zap_Tech... I fail to see why you have such a high-end PC if not used for PC games? Just an observation, perhaps you are a graphic designer or 3D animator?

25, I own a x360, ps3, pc, Ps2 (broken) Original playstation:D Still working fine after all these years.

Spent R5000 on a small pc upgrade last month, currently spend about R1000 a month on gaming.
I tend to buy from the bargain bin but i'll splurge on a new title if its something ive really been looking forward too.

The way gaming is heading now...I think developers are making a massive mistake by pushing more titles for consoles and then porting to pc.
We all know they do it because they make alot more money, for example I saw The new bioshock special edition for R850..that's a fcking rip off.

I'm 28 and I have a PS3, XBOX 360 and a pretty epic PC....I spend between R500 - R1200 some months on games and depending on Blu-Ray releases, that can add another R600 per month. Some months go buy without me buying a single game or blu-ray...it all depends on what's coming out. For example, the only 2 games I can see myself buying now is Starcraft 2 and the new Mortal Kombat. Other than that....I'm pretty opportunistic and I always read up on games before I buy them...I've been caught up in the hype machine in the past and it's very expensive in the long run. Not anymore though.
