For any of those who want to give Aion a try before buying - there is a trial account system available - so this is just an explanation of how to get it.
Step 1: Get the client - you can download it if you want, but it's going to range between 11 - 13GB - so I suggest finding someone who has it - fully updated - and getting a copy.
The client is hosted on WAGE, so anyone with a WebAfrica account can download it from their freezone - an option if getting it copied isn't viable (Thanks _Caboose_)
Step 2: Get an active player to send a referral - most likely this will be the same person you get the client from. They have to be in possession of an active an fully paid up Aion account. If your client donator doesn't have this, I suggest posting a request in the Aion General Discussion thread. Any one player can have 4 active invites, so chances are you'll find someone who can help you there.
Step 3: Create an NCSoft Europe account - http://eu.ncsoft.com/en-gb/ - and use the trial key e-mailed to you to activate your Aion account.
The trial key gives you the following: Full access to Aion for 3 days, 5 hours play, or level 7 - whichever comes first. Your character will remain saved should you decide to buy Aion - you'll need to register the key you receive on the same account though (the character will remain for 90 days, I think)
Whoever refers you gets 30 days of free play should you decide to buy the game within a month, so there is some incentive (pick me, pick me
).
Honestly, I'd prefer they lose the 5 hour, 7 level limitation, since you won't really get to experience much of the game at all, but it's better than nothing
