How to own at rhythm games

Um don't play? Nah just kidding. :p

Rhythm games are a lot of fun so long as you don't delude yourself into thinkings that it's the real thing (some people write rhythm games off based on this all together). One thing from playing a real guitar does translate to the rhythm games though. Tap your foot, bop you head, head bang in that long note or even hop with a wireless controller. In short, have move around! Moving help you feel and keep the rhythm better (and possibly makes you look like an idiot, but at least it's fun). :D

I found playing the controller like a bass guitar is a hell of a lot easier.

Rest your forearm on top of the controller and 'strum' up with your middle and index finger. Much less effort at the very least :)

Coincidently GH is what got me into playing bass.... and consequently I don't touch the game anymore...

Oh, and playing GH does help learning to play guitar, but only in so far as to teach your fingers to move independently.

At least there was 2 actual tips in that.

Holding down one key in a sequence, and turning on the turbo modes.
My wife can't play these games for sh** lol.

Once I showed her the turbo mode she freaked.
Then I told her to watch the song first, and identify the "key-note" and hold that down.

She now loves playing GH... albeit she still struggles with going up one difficulty.

haha. Play a REAL guitar then attempt again haha

WOW, I'M SURE YOU'RE THE FIRST PERSON TO EVER MAKE THAT COMMENT, LOL.

I've been playing guitar for 17 years already. Am I allowed to play Guitar Hero - which, by the way, IS A FUCKING GAME, WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT - now? Thanks.

Ugh. It's like telling people who love FPSes to go shoot a real gun.

Haha. I was thinking more in the lines of Coordination, which can work both ways. But my question is: If it's just a game, why the over-reaction, no offense intended.

P.S. FPS is not exactly the same as GH games.

I'm just tired of someone always running out the 'play a real guitar lol' line. It's so obvious and stupid and boring. Guitar Hero's been around 5 years or so now - believe me, someone's said it before you. A lot.

And my FPS analogy is absolutely right - in FPSes, you pretend you're shooting a gun. In rhythm games, you pretend you're playing an instrument. How is it any different? And yet, nobody ever tells people who play FPSes to 'go shoot a real gun lol'. :/

Mmmm... well I think I have a solution to this debate :D

It's like guitar hero, but with a real guitar :)

Go read up on it HERE

I seriously hope they don't make a FPS version of this

That is actually pretty freaking awesome!!! I'm not the biggest Guitar Hero fan (mostly because I totally suck on any difficulty higher than medium :p), but using an actual guitar to play the game is a really interesting idea. I do play guitar a bit so maybe I won't be as bad with this; will definitely be keeping an eye out for it.

Haha I think the best thing about GH is the fact that 90% of people suck! It's fun to play it in a group. Social games like that is awesome, because even non-gamer friends can join in. :)

My problem is that most of my friends play on hard or expert, but no matter how much I play I can't go above medium. They always tune me crap and it pisses me off, so I don't play much.

Well I'll probably get the GH kit with the real guitar again, now they should release the drum set with an actual midi output

can i also follow das advice with.... bedroom rythm games ? :D

Well, the easiest way to learn and improve your skills in GH or in your case "Bedroom Hero" is to start with Easy mode or normal then just keep upping your difficulty. Its the only way to learn. If you still struggle by now, then just go celabate . haha

The only way to egt good at games like these is practice. Or start with Rockband, the difficulties aren't as hardcore and GH3's hard or expert difficulties.
