Humans are morons...

Yeah, that is sick. I had a little bit of a different experience. Some of you may know that van buuren/geldenhuys by Bedfordview had a bad rep for traffic problems. We had this one guy designing a heat exchanger for us. His can got smashed by a truck into the barrier. It looked like a crumpled tin can. I don't know how this guy survived, better yet he survived unscratched. Laptop with all the data was minced though. Half the drivers cab was flat.

I understand the concept of "curiosity", but curiosity fades when you have lost a loved one or close friends. When you've kissed/touched a corpse and realised, "This is it. My loved one is dead. Gone forever. Never coming back." People who stop and take pictures of serious/fatal accidents are either a) Naive. People who believe bad things happen to other people's families. They don't think, "How would I feel if some stranger took photos of/circulated pictures of my i.e. dismembered father/mother/sister/brother/child?" b) Sociopaths who thrive on the reactions they receive when posting/circulating horrific images. I'm not sure if any of you have any knowledge of the Nikki Catsouras case? (That link is just to the wiki - no images) After watching her story on Dr Phil, I made the grave mistake of doing a Google search ... it happened to be on image instead of web ... Listening to her parents and sister talk about their legal struggle to get the images removed from some websites, and how they had trouble remembering her as she was after seeing those images, was truly harsh.

Throughout the Dr Phil show they kept emphasising how bad it was over and over, but they (obviously) didn't show the offending images. I worked in an office where (much to our annoyance) gory emails were circulated on a regular basis and thought, "How bad could it really be?" I honestly wish that I hadn't done the search as I had to consciously banish the images from my mind afterwards.

Yes definitely, it made me actually take a step back and say hey wtf am i actually looking at and why. Very sad indeed. Had the same sort of feeling when watching these stupid videos of dogs getting killed on youtube, why click that shit?! i prefer cat and baby videos :(

Me too. When I was a teen, I used to frequent Gore Gallery and had a morbid fascination with death and horror films. These days I prefer Sci-Fi, comedies, Anime, funny animal videos, etc.

Gore gallery jeeesh memories, FOD and rotten.com too. Thank goodness for kanhazcheezburger and lolcats.

Pffft I don't dig gory stuff anymore but I still like to see real war footage. But I am just preparing myself for what I might see in the future.

MY friend loved rotten.com and snuff videos. I hated that shit. We were 14 at the time.

I also walked that road. Changed when I greeted a loved one in a coffin...
Seeing dead people steals a part of your humanity. Every time you see a dead person a part of you dies. And you can't undo it, you can't unsee things.
Wish people would realize that before it is too late.

The only "snuff-type" footage I occassionaly watch these days is "1000 Ways to Die" because most of the people who die are chops and caused their own death through stupidity. Like the guy who was training for a farting competition and who caused his "trainer" to die because he (the "trainer") was trying to light the guy's fart to see how big the flame was ... or the Yoga instructor who was trying to get her students to fart during class. (Vids aren't real, they're recontructions) When they left in disgust, she pursued them while in the Eka Pada Sirsasana position, fell down a flight of stairs, and drowned in a meditation pool. I mean, C'MON! :p

I think as teens curiosity got the best of us. I remember Gore Gallery was down for a while and then came Rotten.com - bad memories. Really bad. I'll stick to 9gag thanks.
