Stupid question, but how do I know how big (watt) a PSU I need?
Efficiency ratings can be made up too. Seen generic PSU that have supposed great efficiency but are horrible. Surprisingly a brand I was hesitant with trying out was one called Isonic as I'd never heard of them, but getting my wife a 550w modular one from Prophecy and it actually has been going for almost 2 years and it has never given a moments problem. Also Coolermaster good price and value as well.
Nice thread necro.
Zombiesssss....
Braaaaiiiiiiiiiins
It actually adds something of worth to the discussion, and reopens the thread if anyone has some input on whether Huntkey is still as shit as it was.
So, no. This is not an atypical thread necro. Please start posting something of worth or leave and stop spamming the thread.
Anyway, two days and it hasn't exploded on me yet, so touch wood. Replacing it asap, though.
Huntkey PSU's are fine now. There was issues few years ago with them, but it's all been sorted out since. Just don't get the 600W. Still some issues with them.
In fact, I use the X7 900W with my rig. See spec for details. Stuff not in sig [ 3 x 2TB RAID 5 - 8 x Chassis fans - Corsair H100 - Zalman MFC1 Plus fan controller ]
In the last 2 years, (average 4 a week) I have probably sold around 400 of the 550w PSU's. Of those, 4 came back. 2 of them were due to lightening damage, 1 was due to a roach climbing in the PSU and shorting it out and other 1 was because it blew on its' own.
So yes. Huntkey has jacked up their game now.
I wouldn't touch the Gigabyte Odin PSU's with a wooden pole. The other series are fine, but the Odin's specifically are crap.
