Huntkey PSU ?

The problem with the size of the psu is it's like buying a car because it has a 1.6L engine - it doesn't tell you anything about how the car actually performs, what condition it's in. Roughly speaking you get what you pay for with power supplies.

gigabyte odin 585w is crap.i gave mine too my brother.coolermaster/corsair/antec/vantec is the way to go.go with quality an dyou know it will last longer and will give you peace of mind

oh yeah and on that note, check if the odin has an effiency rating.it doesn't so it means it can't be trustworthy as to better known PSU's that do list their effiency rating on the product and on thier sites.

Efficiency ratings can be made up too. Seen generic PSU that have supposed great efficiency but are horrible. Surprisingly a brand I was hesitant with trying out was one called Isonic as I'd never heard of them, but getting my wife a 550w modular one from Prophecy and it actually has been going for almost 2 years and it has never given a moments problem. Also Coolermaster good price and value as well.

+1 on that good note

Was just about to get my mate a huntkey. read 2 reviews and told him to shove it. He got a coolermaster 600w and its running like a dream :D

I literally just bought a 550watt Huntkey Green Power PSU today. Now I've read this thread, I'm too scared to try playing games with it (it's already installed). :(

My first thread :p

Anyway, I wouldn't worry - a mate of mine has one and he's never had problems. I specifically asked him when I heard he got one, because I was wary of them in the past.

Nice thread necro.

Zombiesssss....

Braaaaiiiiiiiiiins

It actually adds something of worth to the discussion, and reopens the thread if anyone has some input on whether Huntkey is still as shit as it was.

So, no. This is not an atypical thread necro. Please start posting something of worth or leave and stop spamming the thread.

Anyway, two days and it hasn't exploded on me yet, so touch wood. Replacing it asap, though.

I actually had posted something, but then I edited my posts after someone mentioned that you had necroed the thread.

Basically what I posted was this :

Huntkey PSU's are fine now. There was issues few years ago with them, but it's all been sorted out since. Just don't get the 600W. Still some issues with them.

In fact, I use the X7 900W with my rig. See spec for details. Stuff not in sig [ 3 x 2TB RAID 5 - 8 x Chassis fans - Corsair H100 - Zalman MFC1 Plus fan controller ]

In the last 2 years, (average 4 a week) I have probably sold around 400 of the 550w PSU's. Of those, 4 came back. 2 of them were due to lightening damage, 1 was due to a roach climbing in the PSU and shorting it out and other 1 was because it blew on its' own.

So yes. Huntkey has jacked up their game now.

I wouldn't touch the Gigabyte Odin PSU's with a wooden pole. The other series are fine, but the Odin's specifically are crap.

Something to that effect. Can't recall exactly.

Use it, don't use it. Whatever. I don't care what you do actually :)

Can somewhat agree with you there, otherwise people make 10 threads about the same product, instead of just using the one that was made originally. If they didn't want us to post in old threads they would have locked or removed them.

As for on topic: My Brother got a Huntkey 400W when he got his H61/Pentium G640 (upgrade) I slapped my old GTS450 in there and he's never had a problem had it for 2 years now.
