I feel like buying a game

I'm bored and cold. I think I'll pop out later and buy something to play whilst hiding on the couch.

Any suggestions? I'm up for anything that has come out in the last 9 months or so. Perhaps something that I can clock up lots of hours on, more bang for my buck in these economically harsh times :D

For the 360, of course (however so PC game recommendations wouldn't go astray).

What genres are you into?

I hear Prototype is a lot of fun, bit short on the story side though

RPG wise, theres Mass Effect if you don't have it already

Thanks! Actually I have been looking for a well price copy of Mass Effect in the last few months, I seem to have skipped over it at the time for whatever reason. Maybe I'll take a looksie and see if I can find a copy.

RPG, shooters, hell maybe I should even try Halo Wars (still sceptical about RTS with a console pad). No racing and no fighting games.

(Xbox) Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Halo 3, Race Driver GRID, Fear 2 but i would advice your search the local bargin bin as next month the pre chrismas rush starts and alot of awesome games are coming out.
(PC) COD4 and play it online, COD5 same reason as 4, Mass Effect, Fallout 3.

Just my advice.

The thing about short games, such as Prototype, is that as long as the side "quests" are ample then I will play every piece of the game. Hell, maybe I should borrow my buddy's copy of Fable II, there's an idea.

Hmmm the last 9 months bit makes this a tough challenge. Otherwise I'd recommend something like Fallout 3.

Otherwise if you want something that will last a long while then what about Sacred 2? It came out on the 360 recently. It depends a lot whether it's your type of game though.

I recommend looking through the recently released list at MetaCritic: http://www.metacritic.com/games/xbox360/

Oh and I don't know if you've played it and it's quite old now and some people found it a bit boring, but wowee I'm really enjoying Assassin's Creed at the moment.

Halo wars... i have it, Played it once. Brilliant game but doesnt have that "Grab you by the short and curly's" feel to it.

Shot. Don't worry, I've been digging deep in the local bargain bin lately. Cash flow has been erratic over the last few months, but come Christmas time I think phakt is gonna buy himself something really perdy. But that I can wait for, right now I need a time killer of sorts that I would enjoy.

Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Fear 2, Prototype and COD5 (I ain't down with that modern warfare stuff, I wanna hunt down Nazis!), got it.

Thanks guys!

Fallout 3 is within a decent time frame, and I have not played it.

Assassins I have played to death, its fun and time well spent if you don't necessarily stick to the main story line.

Hmmm... Sacred 2 looks worth a second glance.

Maybe I'll pop into AnimeWorx and see what they have on the second hand shelf.

The main feature Sacred 2 has I'm interested in: Couch Co-op. but I hear theres no offline trading :(

But if its anything like the first game, you'll clock loads of hours with it :D

I shall pop over to the malls later and see what I can find on special/discount/second hand. My bank manager says no to paying full price :D

Thanks everyone!

Awesome, just don't go over to the dark side of piracy

Strangely enough I've never had a problem pirating PC games (comes from Sierra in the early 90s); but with console games it just feels... wrong. And I spend more money on my consoles than on PCs, so... :D

If youre into JRPGs then Tales of Vesperia or Star Ocean 4 are pretty great, more specifically Tales of Vesperia.

You can easily get 50-100+ hours in those games.
