Really? lol You realize they said that both Sony and Microsoft said there would be no backwards compatibility this generation because of the new architecture/s the consoles are running. So yeah this is a big deal, a really big one considering it's technically impossible for the Ps4 to ever be backwards compatible.

Yes thats why I am saying why are people praising Microsoft for this when it could have been put in at launch.
They only did it so they could sell their Xbox one games and force people to buy the same games if they wanted the Xbox one experience.
It will be nice to use my old Xbox 360 games, but not giving Microsoft any credit.

It is an amazing feat to have created this emulator and most possibly took them a very long time to accomplish. There's no point in not having had it since it would have been a definitive advantage to the XBox One at launch.

True about the emulator, but at least Nintendo added the Wii emulator before they sent out their consoles same with the DS emulator.
Would have been nice if Microsoft thought of it beforehand so glad I didn't spend money on the Xbox one version of the 360 games I already have.

What do you mean the XBox One version of the 360 games you already have? The whole great thing about this is that you won't have to buy the games again. You will be able to use your existing 360 games on the XBox One. Should the developer allow it.

One of the games I play is Skylanders which I have for the Xbox 360 and would have liked to play it on the Xbox one without paying for the starter kit again so this will be nice.

I'm sort of in two minds about this to be honest. On the one hand I sort of think it's something that should have been there from the start anyway. But on the other hand, I get that the technical complexities of doing this are pretty huge and can appreciate that MS have managed to work it out.
What would be hugely impressive now is if they could get XBone games to run on my 360. I'd settle for reduced graphic fidelity of course.

Sony is doing one of two things now; Either they are scrambling to start work on backwards compatibility or they are sticking their heads in the sand hoping this does nothing to the XBONE sales

I know, just referencing something many people wished for, with most saying it will most likely never happen (you included). And here we are, wishful thinking and all that. Personally I don't think Sony will go the backwards compatible way, but not too much worried about that. Would be nice to play some of my digital PS3 games on the PS4, but I've made my peace with that.

you are correct, sony might do (a variation of) BC via streaming. they have been dabbling with streaming for a while now (im test form) so they might implement the feature to stream any games you owned on your ps3 since its linked to your psn account
People are forgetting that XB360 games are absolutely dirt cheap, it's like Steam Sales cheap , so this will certainly encourage a few people to buy an XB1 and buy XB360 games on there. Hell MS was giving away AC:Black Flag for free on XB360 just last month, i will certainly get and play some older titles knowing it works on the XB1 .
It'll be kinda like Xbox Arcade , it's win-win and for the cheaper-skates among us, definitely something keeping an eye on (i still need to play Red Dead Redemption....etc)

Desperate times call for desperate measures. With all the changes Xbox One seems like a totally different console now. Now Sony needs to kickback hard... With the backlog on my PS3 I don't think I will ever sell my PS3 and with the size of PS4 games I'll just end up with HDD space issues.
It's a bummer I wouldn't be able to play Rise of Tomb Raider

ps4 and pc will get it, just a bit later (most likely a year) the same way the xbone will get FF7 which is a timed exclusive on the ps4
