I've been working in the IT field for 7 years now and one often reads about how stupid some people can be, never thinking that'd it actually happens.
Well, it happened.... Worked on an elderly gentleman's PC this weekend and when he got it home, he had no internet connection. Finally figured out that the problem was a fault on Telkom's side so he went off to get that sorted.

Phones me today to tell me he's been trying to get his PC started for the past hour but it's completely dead! After a minute or two I decide that perhaps it's time to go back to basics:
Me: Does the screen turn on?
Him: No.
Me: Are the lights on the router on?
Him: No.
Me: Desk lamp?
Him: No.
Me: Check power from wall.
Him: Can't be that! Nobody touches that!
Me: Humour me, i'll gladly apologise if that's not the problem.
Him: Switch is off. Must've been the maid.
Me:...................
Him: It's working now. Thanks.

I'm still lolling :D

A person has asked me if the Start button I was referring to, was on my left or their left...

Heh, altho 1 company we maintain has all their employees throw the start menu/taskbar on the left vertical (so start button is top left)....very weird every time I go there. also half the mice are on left side (i'm a lefty myself and mouse is where it should be....on the right)

Haha, yep. I've worked at a place where the previous Admin put the start bar at the top, with everything dropping down. Reason was because it was the same location inside word, excel etc (File Edit etc...) so you don't have to move the mouse too much. :wtf:
