Hey guys, I want to do a collection of any animal food to give away to animal based charaties. I've done one before and was able to raise about 50 bags of food for an SPCA. I am in the Joburg area. If anyone has any suggestions on where i should collect for, please assist.

Our pick and pay has a trolly outside their entrance with food collection for spca and every month there are loads of food in it.

The easiest way would be to get an organization like the Rotary Club involved. Through them you can run a competition for all the schools in the area to see who can give the most amount of animal food. I did this when I was living in Middelburg, and we managed to collect 2 bakkie loads full of food that was given to 3 different SPCA organizations.

I think they have a few things going on at the moment, so i dont want to overload them :) I could contact a few schools though... might be a great idea...

Ive never been there but i do love cats... my last donation was to Edenvale SPCA because of the fact that they saved, rehabilitated, adopted and looked after an abused dog even though he was in his final days...

I'd rather not get involved, we are part of the SA guide dogs and we buy all the food the puppy we are fostering as well. So technically we already have a fixed donation to the SA guide dogs so i feel comfortable with our contribution as is. But if any mygamers want to help out the SA guide dogs association has nice big wish list for their dogs.

I also donate to them, we cant foster a puppy - I wont be able to let the puppy go :P But we donate food, toys, hooves and blankies and pillows

Great drive. Keep it up! I feel sorry for the animals during the fireworks displays.

My lab at home was panting an pacing, she wouldn't leave our sides... she is terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks and there were both yesterday...
