yeah. I would love to see the amount of effort going into shiny pictures going into game mechanics, AI and so forth. Also i read the other day that the destructive engine Red Faction Guerrilla used should become common place. This is what dev's should focus on. My opinion anyways.
I wasn't too impressed with RFG, but then again I played it on the PS3 and it had terrible scaling and aliasing issues. Eyes Bleeding = Not happy time.
Personally I'm quite happy with the UE3 being the "standard" that a lot of people are using these days. All Epic needs to do is develop the tech for allowing destructible world objects and everything will be peachy.
