If you had the opportunity...

Great post DieGrootHammer. I do think that the barriers to entry on the non-services side are dropping away, if you look at Quirky and 3dhubs as examples, the opportunities are endless. Check out this site exponentialorgs for what some incredible startups are doing.

Build a nice self-sufficient modern house (the glass, wood & brushed aluminium look) in either Canada, Sweden, Norway or Scotland.

As for opportunity...nah just for me a couple years. OK maybe a lot of years but I'll get there.

If I had the fortune, would got diploma/degree. Then started a company that used game engines as solutions for companies problems(Not saying for every problem but a particular problem).
My brother just became unemployed, so I'm piggy backing on him to get things off the ground, but with so little time during the night and with him living a distance away from me, its been rough.

Hey bru, sorry about your brother.

Was looking at game engines the other day thinking it would be an interesting way to show/evaluate plant designs with clients. Working on a project now and people like being about to see the thing in 3D but thats zoomed out rotating the whole thing. If they could actually walk around the visualisation how it would look when its built. Thats got opportunities for training people as well I reckon.

Want an almost solid guarantee that you won't lose your boss? BYOB (Be Your Own Boss). Still a great aspiration.

I'd love to own my own firing range and fire arm training centre.

logistically and financially in SA it's a absolute nightmare. but that's what I want to do :)

Most of my life was spent in pursuit of music and being in a band for a living, as hard as that life can be the dream still lives on in a small part of me.
If I had the money tree I'd get my old band back together, go full time, get a support crew together, pay them all a salary and give it one last huge final shot!

This is a really cool thread. Thanks to everyone who's posted (and to BeoTeK for kicking it off).

While I really love what I do now, if money wasn't an object I'd like to see if I can retrain in a bio/medical field of some kind. Hated bio in high school, but what I'm really interested in is researching cures for diseases that still plague life on earth.

Starting with cancer in humans. Screw cancer.

Well I can say thanks to people on this forum's support, I have taken a small step into starting my own business. Just the moral support from friends here has helped a lot and then people like DieGrootHammer who is helping me behind the scene is awesome. Now just to see if the business takes off.

I get asked this question a lot in interviews. The answer is always the same; start my own all-encompassing marketing company

Doing a Round The Globe Trip on a Motorbike with my wife as a pillion! Would be a dream come true!

If i had financial backing i would travel followed by starting my own no kill shelter on the largest plot of land i could find. Followed by a non profit orphanage. Also providing food/clothing packs to those who you can see desperately need it.:p Paying off my parents mortgage would be the very first though

Forgot my dream to start a swim school... but animals come before that:o

I am with 8sh. Starting your own business and giving opportunities to others would be the main idea. That would create financial security for me and my future employees.

Also of course, a nice holiday to Greece won't hurt. :P

Travel. I've not yet had the opportunity to go beyond the SA borders and am aching to see more of the world. Once that is over and done with, I would've loved to study animation, so I'd book myself into the most prestigious animation school money can buy :p

If I had the capabilities where finance was not an issue, I would open a Montessory pre-school for my wife as she is exceptional with children and her previous care has proven her abilities as a teacher/caregiver. For myself, I would start a business and employ staff, I have a few good business ideas that will assist the SA public, those in debt or those with bad credit. I even have an idea for an app, that is guaranteed to make a lot of money. Anybody with funds, let me know, ha, ha ,ha.

If I had the financial backing or won a lottery, I have a whole bucketful of things I would do:
1. Buy a mansion in Europe, replete with a personal swimming pool (regardless of how much of the money I have went into it).
2. Buy a Bugatti Veyron - one of the most expensive (and beautiful, if I may add) cars in the world, this one would be like a dream come true.

And just in case anything else would remain after both these magnificent buys, I would invest it and keep it safe for my old age :D

I would just like to live alone with a dog and a cat in Canada, playing games on the best computer and fastest internet i can, i would like to be able to buy all the cars i ever wanted. With all this "free time" i would like to stream online to raise funds for charities and start my own gaming channel, i would also try and obtain every good game i can in physical form and make a whole room dedicated to them so they would never be forgotten.
