The rain spiders (huntsmen) here get seriously big too...entirely harmless though. Named the last one tiger because of stripes...unfortunately they gtfo after a week or so. Thought I had a pet that didn't need feeding/attention there...

We had multiple rain spiders in my friend's room a few months ago. I actually brought my shoes inside because I didn't want the beetle on the ground near them nesting inside... Later, in his room, the rain spider came in near the top of the door, said to itself "Hey look! A shoe!" and promptly dropped directly inside...
