I prefer something that can be used for both melee and ranged. Lightsabers range is only how far you can throw and control it (if you have Force powers).

An excellent example is Lightning's gun from Final Fantasy 13. Gun for range and changes to a sword for melee.

Matters not distance to the Force....

If your a freaking Jedi (Or Sith), who can defelct lazor bolts and cast lightning a little distance doesn't mean shit. Jango Fett had 2 ranged weapons and got his head chopped off by a purple lightsaber, Boba Fett had a rifle and suffered a jetpack malfuntion.

Moral of the Story... ANY kind of Ranged Weapon > LightSaber.

Also, with a sabre I can deflect any projectile or destroy it whilst strolling over to you and then proceed to remove you limbs and eventually your head at my leisure.

Whats this not fast enough? If your a Jedi nothing is impossible. use a force lightning shield to block the attacks. You also have to come close enought with the "lazor shotty" to even be able to hit a jedi. If you get close its game over. :p

Right. Jango Fett managed to killa Jedi with a rapid fire blaster in Episode II. Also, several Jedi were killed when caught by surprise when the clones attacked them.

Obviosuly not good Jedi then. I didn't say they are unkillable...
