I'm sure they would have gone with that, but with the current design they considered the people that are colour-blind. How would you tell the difference between stop and go if you only see black and white?

Ah yes, that is true...

They could always have a MASSIVE robot with all three "hour-glass" figures on one robot . In the same formation as the ones we have now. Hahaha, that would be stupid though

Well my only logical guess is to look at what everybody else is doing. But obviously that's not feasible enough... Forgive me if I'm missing something, but seeing a full hour-glass could mean both stop or go when you don't know what colour it is...

The robots(traffic lights) are awesome, but clearly the inventor did not account for the low average intelligence of someone behind the wheel of a car.

My thoughts exactly. Awesome (if somewhat flawed) idea though. Traffic signals might not be needed anymore when the average person would've been capable of understanding them.

Green - Orange - Red - Orange - Green ...
