Tent - Camera

Recently, I began to wonder what it would be like to marry images of landscapes with the surface of the ground nearby. I have worked with my assistant, C.J. Heyliger, on designing a light proof tent that, via periscope type optics, makes it possible to project a view of the nearby landscape onto whatever ground is under the tent. Inside this darkened space I use a view camera to record the effect, which I think is a rather wonderful sandwich of two outdoor realities coming together. This Tent-Camera now liberates me to use camera obscura techniques in a world of new places. I now have a portable room, so to speak.

A postcard view of the Brooklyn Bridge receives a gritty makeover when Morell projects the image onto a tar paper rooftop.

Lightning veins the Eyjafjallajökull volcano's ash plume, which roiled air travel this spring. Such "dirty thunderstorms" may occur when rock and ice particles loosed by exploding magma collide in the atmosphere.

I don't think Pikachu is a childrens cartoon character anymore :P More Stephen King.

This photograph was made in Kolmanskop, Namibia. Kolmanskop is an abandoned diamond mine near the coast. The ghost town has several residences and barrack-type accommodations, as well as the remains of a few commercial establishments.

Densweep, where do you find these images?? I love them, they are amazing.

My sentiments exactly. Especially love the Namibian picture. The blend of oranges and blues is superb, colours especially found in a sunrise or -set. Nice posts Densweep ;)
